the new york times are reporting a two year deal… good on her, if true!
many were writing her arsenal career off
Had I have heard this at the end of the season I’d be shocked, but since Katie McCabe (her girlfriend, whom she lives with) joined Chelsea (which was incredibly controversial and I’ll probably write an article about it) it was really only down to two options: stay at Arsenal or go to LCL, cause she probably wouldn’t come to Spurs (she wouldn’t start for us anyway) and she’s too good for any of the other London clubs. Even LCL would’ve been hard given they’re linked with players like Mapi León and Alèxia Putellas, clearly showing they’re looking for better players (so Alanna Kennedy may leave too).

In saying that, we’re yet to hear a thing about KCC yet. She’s still in Brissie with her mum but her minutes were quite inconsistent, annoyingly. She’s a great player but Arsenal need to actually use her instead of relying on what’s now the oldest team (on average) in the entire WSL.

Sydney FC captain Mackenzie Hawkesby has hinted she’s leaving after eight years at the club. Could be an AA again, hopefully it works out this time.

If Mackenzie Hawkesby were to make another move overseas it wouldn't be announced until the start of next week at least though as the summer transfer window gets underway then.

Didn’t she previously play in the WSL for Brighton.
I’m not sure how long she was there. Would another move to the WSL put her in the mix for the Matildas?
Mackenzie Hawkesby was previously on the Brighton playing list but only managed to play one match for them in the Women's League Cup across six months of service time, and I highly doubt she'd be in the mix for the Matildas again if she were to move back to the WSL unless she can get consistent game time.

Even if Mackenzie Hawkesby were to get consistent game time at club level there's no guarantee that she'll be in contention to receive a Matildas callup though.
I wasn’t implying she was, in fact at 26 she’s unfortunately past that. Therefore if she goes overseas she’ll be going somewhere on par with or lower than Dub level.

I don’t think at 26 that she’s past it but, as we are seeing now, it’s very difficult to get get a cap if you are under thirty.
Except those players have been in the setup for years. If Macca was 30 she wouldn’t get picked since she’s never been picked before. It’s hard to get a first cap as an outfield player at 26 though, and even Courtney Newbon and Rhianna Pollicina haven’t been capped yet.

Mackenzie Hawkesby is one of the better players in the Dub though so could still follow suit with Tori Tumeth in going to the Northern Super League or she could well be headed to a mid-table WSL 2 side instead.

From what I’ve seen the NSL or the WSL 2 is no better than the ALW so the only reason to go there would be for better pay and conditions.

The standard of play in England and North America is certainly better than in the A-League Women so it would be good for Mackenzie Hawkesby to test herself by playing overseas again as opposed to stagnating by staying in the Dub.

From what I’ve seen on YouTube the Northern Super League is definitely not higher in quality and even some of the WSL 2 games in the lower half of the league would be no better than most ALW games.

The lower half of Liga F too. Don’t be fooled by Barça and Madrid.
