Taking the albatross metaphor a little mechanically further, although the wings are lighter than the body the extreme length of the wings still generates a considerable mechanical moment if any force is exerted on the wing tips, which will have a large twisting effect. So if a large force is applied at the extreme left or right wing, it can have the effect of creating extreme unbalance.

I'm making this up as I go, but hopefully you can follow my thinking in extending this to politics.
I understand exactly what you are saying - although mechanically it only takes a small amount of unequal pressure at either tip to create significant imbalance in the whole. Heavy pressure would be total destabilisation. Which also fits with your point.

It is also, quite coincidentally, the same reason you don't get an albatross to carry your groceries if you have an uneven number of bags.

...and incidentally, I was going to use ostriches instead of penguins, emus and kiwis for the comparison species - with the inherent human meaning of being an ostrich equally relevant. But this is Green and Gold so I passed on that opportunity.

If anyone wants to write a political book they are welcome to use Albatrosses and Ostriches freely in form or title.

Green and Gold FC - the gift that keeps on giving.

Any signs of Muz returning?

Haven’t seen him, but he might post in different threads?

I think part of the reason you receive strong pushback is that you often describe people who disagree with you as "commie sympathisers", "leftie simps", or similar terms. When discussions are framed that way, it's understandable that some people will react negatively.

There are others who hold political views similar to yours who don't attract the same level of backlash because they focus on discussing the issues and engage respectfully with those who disagree. You might find that if you reconsider how you express your views, the responses you receive could be quite different.

People are generally more willing to engage constructively when they feel they're being treated with respect, even when there are significant differences of opinion.

As a moderation team, we draw the line at personal attacks and discriminatory content, regardless of the political viewpoint being expressed. People are welcome to hold and discuss a wide range of opinions provided they stay within the forum rules.
Quality, statespersonlike post, Q.

Even though I’m a long term left wing political activist off forum, I agree with a lot of Sharkman’s views about cricket and football in other G and G threads. He is quite respectful too.

Don’t really visit the politics threads much on G and G, as I want to get away from politics on here. Do plenty of it face to face.

He posted something about Volpato the other day but otherwise he's staying away due to some differences in opinion on how the forum is moderated.
Thanks.

It least Muz is still posting. Hopefully he posts more often.

In all other forum settings I’ve been active in, including being a Mod in some, I am pretty sure Moderating decisions are not up for public discussion - which I think is Muz’s main grievance with G and G.

If you are reading this Muz, we want you back posting. Your contributions are missed.

Yep....Avo-on-toast....Overpriced, often mediocre, and should be renamed straight-up soapy slop-on-toast!!

Better breakfasts deserve the spotlight...proper baked beans serve piled high on buttered toast, maybe a loaded Turkish gozleme, cheesy scrambled eggs with hot sauce, or even a simple Vegemite + butter toast done right.....

Avo-on-toast should be excommunicated from the culinary conversation!!

well I beg to differ - on my 2.50 avo's the Mrs's buys I got to say sprinkled with pepper and salt I enjoy muchly next to my scrambled with authentic portugese chorizo not the bs general cafes dish out.

Ripe avo is not tasteless. The type of avo determines whether it is creamy or nutty.

My invention - half an avo mashed on two slices of toast, spicy capsicum dip (Black Swan brand only), sliced tomato.
