FFS were vulnerable at the near post and that was casual marking by Leckie there.

Seen enough. Leckie has to be omitted O'Neill has immunity but is pushing his luck.

We need the preferred players to have some time together but I'd much prefer wholesale changes to rest our best.
 
I understand why Robertson wasn't included in the squad now, he doesn't fit the archetype of a midfielder who just ball-watches the other team have 90% possession all-game.

We have players in the Australian squad who could help create a team that possess the ball more.

Also, the drink break isn't a clock-stop?

I don't think the clock ever stops in football. They'll tag it on. Timekeeping is vital here.

If Robertson were playing we'd be using the ball a lot more. I've not noticed our midfield yet.
 
Yeah for a team that prides themselves on defensive structure and having players like Metcalfe, Irvine, O'Neill and Leckie who are supposedly doing a great "job" defensively, none of them have really done anything on either side of the ball.

Our midfield has been very quiet in the first half with no big chances created altogether compared to Mexico's two and only 60 passes made whilst Mexico have 317 passes already.
 
Our defenders known how shit Irvine and O'Neill are on the ball so they're starting to pass it ahead.

What I hate is how much time and opportunity we've wasted by passing it back or giving it away. If we're going to experiment then try to advance the ball to each other.

A proper Midfielder like Mooy would always be in the appropriate space. The 2 we have lack awareness.
 
Metcalfe gets it and there's just no support there. Trying long is OK but that's the problem with Irvine and O'Neill hanging back. Space in the 8 and 10 not being used.

If the Socceroos are going to be reliant on the long ball heading into the World Cup then we need to be able to use the space better in attacking midfield and have a playmaker who's able to create chances and feed the ball to the forward line.
