2026 World Cup Squad

I have my doubts about O'Neill but Irvine has proven the past few tournaments and especially in Australian outfits on the back foot to be a very good and important player.

No reason to think he won't do the same this June. But I suppose it'll remain to be seen.
I actually don’t mind Irvine. But he’s the best of a not great bunch.

Devlin is workable but not so great on the ball. Hard to far without a strong DM

Just realised first world cup without Jedinak or Mooy so there is something of a gap be filled. It's so regrettable we dropped Robertson. The others are defensively fine but can't pass well.

Who are we cutting from the squad? Pat Beach, Brandon Borrello, who else?
Beach, Borello, Boyle and Leckie for me. Personally I'd cut Okon now as he's not of the grade.

Stupid picks have made us have to keep Geria or Trewin. There are just better options out there.

Is O'Neill recovering well? He might get cut due to fitness.

Hope it’s all of them
The last time Mabil was disappointing or lazy for Australia was against Tunisia. Otherwise he's always worked hard and done his best. His movement is good because he also gets clipped winning fouls.

I find Boyle too predictable or slow off the mark on the Boyle.

Velupillay has been excellent for Australia but I understand the concern of his club form.

Forgot about Boyle. Also want him cut, but there will only be four.
We've stupidly overloaded on cuttables.

The 3 B's, Geria, and IMO Trewin and Okon and Mabil in others just shows how bad it is we didn't call Younis or Balard in. Goodwin too. Goodwin for 25min is fine and his deadballs are reliable.

Maybe
Beach
Borrello
Geria
Mabil or Nishan
While yes I get the whole “international experience” thing. I just still can’t wrap my head around that those three players that play in the aleague, would not make anyones team of the year and likely wouldn’t even be the back up players for the players you would choose.

The fire some of the Jets payers would've brought into camp would be second to none.

Few coaches want to make those big changes but against Popovic has brought in Volpato at the last minute which cancels any argument he makes.

He's hypocritically stated players need regular camps to understand the system but has brought in Leckie, Volpato and Tete. I don't mind the 3 picks but then why not add even more fire with Younis and Adams to make Boyle sweat?

Myself included, so much talk about the deadwood and I think we're still under the immaturity guise of players like Bos, Irankunda and Toure because we've been used to having the more dad's army old reliable folk who know big games but I think it's masked how great our options are when you go through the list.

They've all been in form and are ready to deliver. We haven't had that for ages.

Absolutely. Don’t get me wrong I understand when comparing to apples and oranges, players in Europe etc. but when you can directly compare and watch these guys in the same league vs the same opposition, week after week…. It’s just a bit on the nose and I’d love to know what some of the players who didn’t make the plane think. Hope he proves us wrong somehow!

+ dropped Robertson, Rodrigues and Bennie who are better by position than some who made the cut.
