If only we had moved on that former coach much earlier… we may have seen more silverware and better players in the squad.
We tried with Anastasiadis. But once he pulled the plus, we had to stick with him.

Bloody Mikkola ..... from being the best player in the competition in 2022, to just another player last year.

Now look at him ..... as we have all said.

I have a theory that once our players are back, and even if there is some sort of rest for those 2 weeks, we may be so match hardened, that we simply roll over the opposition, as we have done to some extent in the matches where we had a full list to choose from.

And if the transfer window opens in July, we then have between 5 to 9 matches where our squad will be even stronger, especially if we win the the OFC Pro League and have a big cash injection.

Winning the OFC Pro League will give the squad added momentum and confidence to focus on the NPL Victoria competition and the Australia Cup.

It could go either way, they've played a lot of football and could quite easily become gassed as the season wears on.

I think its going to be more psychological, if we win the ofc they will feel invincible and hit the last 10 or so games of the season hard. If we dont win the ofc the motivation levels may severely drop.

As it stands between the npl and ofc, the ofc is our best realistic chance for silverware. Anything other than winning the ofc is a complete failure.

The Australia cup and Aus championship is huge for us. The thing that shits me about the npl now that is that the grand final is back at lakeside for the next 3 years and stays there even if we make it, no more matildas or village or having it played wherever Oakleigh wants. I'd love to see us in a non esteban grand final at lakeside!

Where is the faux outrage about the grand final being at Albert Park, for the next three seasons, or is this normal in Victoria?

So we had Uchida, Pasquali, Inglese, and Swibel secure a second yellow card in order to serve that suspension against Bula FC in order to be available for the semi final and possible grand final.

That means we’ll see O’Sullivan come in to play Right Back, which should push Giannakopoulos back into the midfield. He’ll have Leech (who replaces Pasquali) next to him in the centre of the park. Bonada to replace Swibel upfront, and Mesourouni/Lackay to replace Uchida.

The aim should be to kill off the contest by halftime, and Sinisa can start rotating players to put on fresh legs during the second half. We will have an 8 day break, so the players will be fresh for the semi final.

The SM GM Peter Kokotis was on 3XY last night.

Did anyone get a chance to listen to what he had to say?

I heard that the players are staying in Auckland for the entire duration of the OFC Pro League. That confirms that no player is flying back for NPL matches.

Also, they are talking to FV about postponing the remaining impacted NPL fixtures. There was no mention of successful outcome of the request but that discussions were ongoing.

My problem with postponing these matches is that our fixture schedule will then be impacted later in the season.

I am wondering if we should just swallow the pill of losses for the next weeks, and then re-start our campaign without the worry of catch up games.

However, there is a free week on June 12/13/14 (Dockerty Cup SF's are on this weekend)
And again August 7/8/9 when the Dockerty Cup Final is on.

So postponing is by far the best option, ESPECIALLY because we are now out of the Dockerty Cup.

Who do we think we are? Man Utd who bailed out of the FA Cup back in 2000 for the World Cup Championship?!! Hehe
