A-League Women/Matildas transfers and delistings

Charli Grant has been delisted by Spurs and will leave the club when she falls out of contract at season's end, being one of four players to depart the side after making 35 appearances and scoring one goal since joining in January 2024.
Quite sad to be honest. Good player but got inadequate minutes. Missed the Asian Cup and FIFA Series with the Matildas due to both her injury and her lack of game time. I’m sure she’ll go smash it elsewhere though.

Any word on where Princess Ibini and Anna Margraf have ended up??
Back to Australia it looks like. Princess Ibini was at Nat Tobin’s baby shower and I don’t think she went back to Turkey. Anna Margraf was confirmed to be returning to Australia when her contract was terminated and is currently still here.

Princess Ibini has also possibly been delisted by Besiktas as she doesn't appear on their playing list altogether but the club haven't announced anything.
That had to be the most pointless move in the history of Australian women’s football. She quite literally barely even trained with them, was named on the bench a few times and débuted like once and then flew back home. She should sack her agent for thinking that was a good idea.

Any thoughts on other players in the Dub who may be on the move elsewhere between now and May 26th, given that the A-League Women April transfer window is currently open? Tori Tumeth and Hana Lowry have both secured transfers overseas, but it's entirely possible that we could see more players move abroad or even jump ship to other clubs within the league.

Surely this is the season that Holly McNamara leaves. If not she’s truly wasting her career and taking up a spot City could be using to develop another bright young talent. Alexia Apostolakis and Leticia McKenna are some other names from that squad I think will leave or try to leave. Both have Matildas caps so they’re now officially on the international stage. Melissa Barbieri probably hangs up her boots.

Daisy Brown, Izzy Gómez, Alana Jančevski, Sienna Saveska, Ella Tonkin, Peta Trimis and Pia Vlok are some ones to watch. Talia Younis will probably stay in the A-League or maybe goes over to Denmark with Marcus Younis but there’s no way in hell she’s staying at Wanderers, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up at Sydney FC. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Bente Jansen ends up back in the Eredivisie, she’s been quite a prolific goalscorer and is Brisbane Roar’s top scorer this season.

Goalies are an interesting one. Some teams have had some shocking goalkeeping yet the top three players on Sofascore are goalies in their early-mid 20s: Teresa Morrissey (24), Heather Hinz (24) and Anna Leat (25). I really hope we keep Heather, she’s over seeing her family in the US right now but she’s made it very clear that she loves living in Sydney (and apparently is bringing her three-legged cat with her if she comes back), though I’m sure American clubs are watching her.

As for loanees and potential loanees, Sharn Freier and Anna Rasmussen need to sort that out. Sharn’s injured but Wolfsburg had zero interest in playing her. Anna was the same with Juve, they didn’t need her. Wouldn’t be surprised if Clara Hoarau comes back from Fleury, she only plays a few minutes per game if she even plays. No idea what Kyah Simon will do, come back or retire or just be ambiguous? Would be cool to have Aivi Luik retire back home but her season and contract at Häcken isn’t over till November.

What do you reckon?

Apparently Arsenal are considering keeping Caitlin Foord and Katie McCabe. I think this kinda shows that they’re more interested in getting fans from player profiles than actually winning anything.

Mackenzie Arnold has extended her contract at Portland Thorns after reaching an agreement with the club to exercise the mutual option in her contract for next season, and will remain at the side through the end of NWSL season 2027.

Only extending till 2027 is interesting. Overall great for her though, she’s one of the best keepers in the NWSL and solidified in that number two spot for the Tillies.

Mackenzie Arnold joined Portland Thorns at the conclusion of the Paris 2024 Olympics and was only under contract for two seasons through the end of this year with a mutual option for next season but agree that it's great for her to be extending her stay there given that she's starting keeper and is one of the best shot-stoppers in NWSL.

Western Sydney Wanderers and Young Matildas starlet Talia Younis has extended her contract at the club for a further year, and will remain under contract at the side through the end of A-League Women season 2026-27.

One would hope for her sake that the Wanderers get their act together.

Wow, that’s… fucking stupid lol. One word: Wanderers.

Nah, I hope all the best for her but that’s quite dumb. She should join a club that wears sky blue and is also from Sydney.

One would hope so. Do I trust them? Not a chance unfortunately. I quite like Talia but she shouldn’t’ve extended. Yes I understand that jumping a sinking ship is a bit of a dick move but with the talent and passion she has Wanderers are only keeping her down.

It’d’ve been interesting to see her move over to Denmark with her brother Marcus. Brøndby (Marcus’ club in the Superliga) are second in the A-Liga (coincidentally a similar name to the A-League) behind HB Køge. Wini Heatley used to play for and was the captain of Nordsjælland just last season (she then moved to Roma).

Captain Katrina Gorry’s leaving West Ham. This weekend she’ll play her last game.

This is one I had no idea was coming since she’s captain and she’s been linked to nowhere. Maybe they’re upgrading their squad after such a dire few seasons.

Katrina Gorry leaving West Ham at season's end upon falling out of contract after choosing to decline a contract extension in the best interests of her family despite being offered a new contract by the club.
