I'd put most of this on Holger tbh - Pim's 'job' was to take us to that next level after 2006 - and save for that match against Germany, he almost matched that - we only missed out on round of 16 by goal difference. That was the GG's last hurrah essentially (and probably should have been). After the Asian Cup final loss, Holger should have tried blooding the new gen a lot earlier than happened.Debut was the wrong word. I forgot he had those games. He didn't integrate new players into the first team squad, particularly outside of those matches. This was a lost generation at the death of the NSL and the transition into Aliga. Holger was worse as the GG were far older at this point.
