What about the back to back Marconi v Olympic grand finals in 89 and 90

I’m not saying if they get their house in order they become this club again tomorrow..maybe the one in the more recent past is a more realistic goal in the medium term, but imo if you’re a fan of the sport at any level in this country you should atleast be aware of the historical context of the club. It was clear during the championship that some people (not necessarily the ones who frequent this forum) we’re only learning about Sydney Olympic for the first time in their lives, apart from maybe having heard the name before, and judging the club of those 6 matches, likewise Sydney united etc although they’ve obviously had their good cup runs in recent years too

Yer nah Leichardt is ours.
They should apply to use concord oval.
Inter Lions use it no reason SO can’t plus it’s closer for their supporter base.
All due respect, I think Leichhardt is a great fit for APIA as a home base for the aus cup and aus championship games, but I dont think it “belongs” to APIA any more than it belongs to Sydney fc or Sydney Olympic both of whom also have a history of playing out of it

respect taken - look I wasn't meaning its just ours, for sure SFC and one day the Tigers/nrl will be back also from time to time.
Thats enough traffic - plus other tournaments so on and so on.
Plus the 3 mentioned its our area zones.
SO need to be around Canterbury/Belmore - the mention near Earlwood etc suits also - thats their area/s.

Disgrace wasnt an egm or agm

More of a information night

700 people turned up
Alot of angry people
Talk is cheap
As ive said this will get uglier before
It gets better

Both groups need to work together
Thats want should happen .

I do believe the greek community will get through this

Lots of security and police at one stage

This is a wake up call for all ethnic clubs

Went for 2 hours

700 turning up to an AGM doesnt sound like a dying club... There is hope there... good luck.

So business as usual.

You know what. 40 years of poor administration and infighting & other things I won't go into on a public forum and no vision for the future have led them into the arms of the current "corrupt" administration and situation of relying on a "benefactor".

* No clubhouse ( non football revenue )
* No home ground
* No engagement with local, state and federal governments
* Antagonistic engagement with Football NSW.
* Chaotic administration
* Rampant politics
* Rampant sponsor inteference with player selections at ALL levels.
* Poor governance.

Whether you're a traditional team or foundation club or whatever I don't care. You have those issues then you're fucked.

I don't have much sympathy at all. They did it all to themselves. Adapt or get relegated and play the Crest Athletic Centre and the last remants of support can reminise of what a big club they were once. That is the future they're looking at unless as a collective they can all have a long look at themselves instead of finger pointing.

I get what you are tying to say but "there but for the grace of God" go many clubs. Some managed to turn things around, others are still up for debate. I think the Sydney league will be poorer for no "Greek" club in the top two tiers at least.

Im not saying they didnt do it to themselves.

oh look for sure it would be a loss for the league and them BUT many a big club in their own right have had to go down over the years/decades to then recover - talking more so abroad of leagues we know of.
Thats what we keep banging on about of P/R.
I seriously do think they do need this kick in the arse after all the years of mis management.
Wouldn't it be a high watching from the lines they recovering and getting back where they belong.
How we luv the game - let this be the lesson for all to see.

Thanks mate , by reading it got no where but stay in the current situation in Hanlins hands/current board without his funding.
I agree what was said though, if you can present a viable sustainable alternative bring it out and thats what the otherside against needs to bring to the table so as the current Board can be punted.
Am I making sense :)
