ALM doesn't rate this week. Poor choice in the teams getting coverage.

I think the AFL match was Sydney vs Gold Coast and only shown in NSW and Queensland. Still, that's a shockingly low number for them.

People sitting on their fat arses watching athletics and horse racing on a weekend during the day. You couldn't make this shit up.

I might try this on with Mrs EZ and the kids this weekeend. "Sorry everyone I want to gamble all day and watch other people run, you guys go on ahead, make sure you bring dinner home "

Bear in mind the ratings system is beyond a joke and does not account for streaming. It is a statistically absurd measuring system invented so the commercial television industy can sell time to the advertising agencies. Everyone in the industry knows it's a joke but as there is nothing else, everyone pretends to believe the figures. I speak from professional experience.

More importantly, there is a strong argument for the A League being a streaming driven product.

Only Paramount Plus and APL know what the true situation is and we will only know when the next tv deal is agreed.

I remember when the radio listening ratings guy came to my house with this diary-book for me to fill out.

Then I couldn't be arsed to do it each day. The end of the week he rang me up saying he was coming to pick up the completed diary...

So on the Friday morning I just quickly filled it out making it up as I went along....

As if you're going to remember exactly what station and at which time you're listening...

The truly odd thing is that back in the 70s a lot of people (mostly retired and heavy gamblers) would watch horse racing. But these days I only know one bloke who actually follows horse racing. I wonder whether the figures include pubs (the only place I know of that shows horse racing).

All the stats for racing shows cratering interest. Those viewing stats are absurd. You really have to wonder about their figures being cooked.

Go into pubs between 12.00 and 5.00 on a Saturday and you will see plenty of punters.

Young people gamble less (despite the constant promotion of gambling everywhere including in kids’ games) so that’s probably why. People bet on racing even though it’s just horses running around a track on a racecourse for hours. I think that’s the only reason people follow it. Eventually that pattern probably means racing won’t be that popular eventually.

Over a million people also watch shows like MAFS too. If there’s one thing Australia sucks at it it’s TV. People here have horrible taste in TV shows and we make terrible TV shows.

Young people gamble less, my fat arse they don't!

You don't seem like a regular pub guy, otherwise you'd know differrently.

I’ll rephrase that. On horses they gamble less. Never seen someone under 25 bet on which horsy can run the quickest.

Online gambling is where it’s at these days, whether that’s sports betting or online casinos.
