RBB Couldn't even fill one bay.

From derbies that were getting 60k now 16k, while counting everyone and everything 5x.

Tells you all you need to know about the current state of the game in this country.
You do know that your fellow westies are boycotting, don’t you?

So, you say only 3,000 there?

16k is rough
I'd love to poll people who used to come and dont anymore and find out what went wrong

I sometimes think Australian A-League fans are having a collective nervous breakdown over crowd figures...

But yeah, it's important to add that these things are going to enhance concerns over the future viability of a national sporting competition.

Especially when you're not in that top tier of the national sporting psyche, which effects media coverage, sponsorship and tv revenues.

Personally I think an A-League average crowd of ~8K is fairly good. The football quality is decent, with one or two exceptions the stadiums are good....

I'm not sure how you can get more bums-on-seats...

the average is fine, the long term trendline looks a worry

40000 is a more accurate figure but yes that is still a lot of lost fans. The A League has a serious reputational problem and I have no idea how it can be fixed. It's not quite where the NSL was but it's getting alarmingly close.
Zero media presence. Chicken and egg... Zero presence because the interest isn't there, or the interest isn't there because of zero media presence?

One thing is certain: APL are failing dismally. If they were a person working for a a company they would have been fired long ago.

in principle if owners are willing to fund it its sustainable
Yes but the current model involves significant losses year on year with no prospect of change. I doubt that satisfies any definition of sustainable.

My frustration is that APL do absolutely nothing to build the competition. The only capability they have shown is incompetence.

City win 2-0 over Phoenix. Behich with the first goal, albiet a deflection. His name on the score sheet, and Paramount talking heads gove him the 3 points for MOTM. He's on the plane!

thats pretty normal to be fair to have losses year after year. In general football I've been posting the much bigger losses of every club in the 2nd and 3rd divisions of england

mind you, owners are unambiguously willing to lose more money if they are in a league with p&r so I guess we don't know what the threshold is in this sort of league where owners are no longer willing to pay the deficits

Agree. I just wish there was some sign of a plan or a vision for the future from APL, but there is nothing to even suggest brain activity in the organisation. If this was a hospital they would be talking about organ harvesting, not that the APL would have anything worth saving.

I agree with you 100% but I must say when you're at a game and having fun you forget about all this off the pitch shite

The fact is that under their watch media coverage has gone from minimal to non existent. Ffs we have CFG in our corner! We have muscle. So why does the APL show all the spine of a jellyfish?
That's unfair to jellyfish and I apologise to the jellyfish community. Unlike APL, jellyfish have an organised nervous system.
