A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 24

160cm mantell, same height as nisbet

Wonder what the best career strategy for his career is? Tilio finally getting some joy in rapid wein but its been hard, nisbet struggling to get a decent level. European clubs might only play 1 short player in their team and you are usually competing with technically elite south americans. So its a tough path. He is starting earlier than nisbet though, so if he can get to ereste divisie early and prove himself maybe his career goes better than nisbet?

Never head of him but this Mantell kid looks like a natural playmaker always showing for the ball good to see a-league club back a youngster in a key position on the field instead of relying on the usual experienced player.
Good talent nevertheless and a well taken goal.

Do Brisbane stick with Valkanis? Once again Brisbane miss out on the finals.

I don’t think height is a major factor in the end it all comes down to performance at their clubs, it’s not easy for Australian players once they move to Europe anyway but the pressure to perform is a lot higher in Europe.

Brisbane Roar are already on track to improve on their record from last season but if finals is considered the pass mark for them then you'd expect Valkanis to get his marching orders in the offseason if they're failing to make the top six again.

At the moment they are no where near close to making the top 6, I think they may have won only 1 game since the start of the year which you expect won't help their chances.

For a club like WSW they have under performed for too long as well, does it help Valkanis chances not sure but they are too far off the pace.

I think we have had a history of shorter players dominating the league and not getting a lookin overseas

Okay so to answer Reddit’s argument that “Mariners can make top six”:
  1. Not with their rubbish form they can’t. They haven’t won in over a month and have the two best teams in the comp next.
  2. In a pro/rel league, both teams would be fighting relegation even if both can also make finals.
The bottom four is pretty much set in stone. Central Coast haven’t won since March, Brissie and Perth haven’t won since January, and Wanderers haven’t won since February. Mathematically speaking only WSW have been eliminated from finals contention so far but with two or three games to go (two for the Mariners and the Roar, three for everyone else) I can’t see the Glory, Mariners or Roar going on a winning run. Relegation however would entice them to have to do so.
