2025/26 UEFA Champions League

Football has become too woke with all the participation ribbons being handed out.
Bullshit. The expansion of the UCL and the UEL has nothing to do with the puerile "culture war". UEFA is shutting out any chance of a competitive league emerging ( i.e The Superleague ) and the clubs are loving it because it's an extra revenue stream, so much so that half of the clubs in Europe would go to the wall without European competition. Purely financial.

Liverpool lost 2-0 to reigning champions PSG and Atletico Madrid ran out winners over 10-man Barcelona by the same scoreline in their Champions League quarterfinal first leg games.

Slot is the main problem to me
Tries a new system in a quarter final champions league game, players looked completely lost, never looked like we had a chance and lucky to only be 2-0 down didnt even bring Salah on nor Rio either 🙄 Players have lost all confidence and in just under 2 seasons Slot has dismantled a winning Klopp team and replaced it with a team that looks a million miles from where they were, void of direction, no intensity and losing games at an alarming rate - that is solely down to Slot who has lost the plot completely.

can't disagree KK :(
Listening to a pod last night with Kalac covering Iraq experience and his global tenticles whats doing end of season games.
Some comments he made rung true for me on certain topics re us and in the end it goes back to Plots directives even before this morns game let alone start of the season.
Fulham coming up and 2nd leg at Anfield will set the tone for the rebuild/recovery for '27/28 without him.
Surely FSG have the finger on the trigger.

there is no doubting Enrique's ability but he irks me at the same time......
A spanyard looking over us would suit once again - the way PSG are playing is similar to our DNA compared to slots slow slow build ups.
Kills me watching it.
Money got to be on Alonso otherwise he would have already signed somewhere by now.
SG well without a doubt and I'd luv his DNA/fire/passion our blokes to go go hard - inspiring, what a combo the 2 of them.

as for the other main CL games - I luv under dog Atleti and Simeone !
OK Barca got a red 45min but you still got to play a outstanding talented 10 and at Barca home !
Big win I hope they finish them off 2nd leg.
A Simeone led team can knock off psg imo.

Bayern v RM < go BM.
Arse v Sporting < Sporting please.

Surely they have - I would welcome Alonso/Gerrard combo think that could work well but no 1 would be Enrique
Sorry KK I agree with LFC, Enrique would be a perpelexing appointment... Alonso has to be the odds on favourite...

Sorry KK I agree with LFC, Enrique would be a perpelexing appointment... Alonso has to be the odds on favourite...Yeah I get that
Yeah I get that tbh I am a little bit like that myself - the main reason I said Enrique was PSG play a brand of football that would suit Liverpool whereby Im not too sure what Alonsos style will be RM were a bit up/down under him but they are such a galatico side its hard to impose a style at RM as many have found out before although Leverkusen were pretty decent so I would still be happy with Alonso (and Gerrard alongside) that would be very interesting .......anything but Slot FFS

One thing Atleti play the best defensive style of football in the world if they get past Barca and the Arse do get through that would be very interesting as I think Aleti could "out bore" the Arse and be prepared for 15mins injury time with all the sniper fouls that will happen throughout the game :ROFLMAO:

Kvaratskhelia…😍

Has that ethereal first touch - the kind that feels like the ball just obeys him, that throwback look with a snaking, hypnotic dribbling style reminiscent of a George Best at his peak and that outrageous close control, vision, and those moments of individual brilliance of Leo Messi.....

Such a fabulous footballer to watch.

Liverpool will have to return immediately to the Klopp-ball of 4 or 5 years ago to resurrect this tie.

Doable but difficult.

haha George, only we all know what that manc could do (RIP) the young uns here no idea.

Come on 4/5yrs ago - just 1/2 seasons we'd be standing up to PSG and putting them away - but no where near it now within a half this passed season even worse now.
How a gaff could screw up this much is record time.
Klopp's DNA and ghost rode our backs last season - slot called ghostbusters made the worst sequal ever.
Jota passing got to say hung in our regulars minds as well - not sure that has been managed well can't say but he lost the main changeroom long ago.

KK, no way could Alonso impose the RM way - he would know this hands down having been one of ours, plus SG would kick him in the balls otherwise lol......

What is your opinion for the second leg mate?

Does Slot's team have it in them to turn the tie around?

I go on a couple of French football forums, mainly to read and one or two of the PSG fans still worry about Anfield on big European nights....

our Anfield euro legacy is real hence the concern......
You only have to cast back to the Messi led Barca night in '19 being 0-3down for one, what a friggin night and turn around, epic.
Thats why they are talking as such.
We are not the same this season obviously, VVD has been talking about putting in this coming leg in the press - you can tell he's sending his msg to the squad.
Can they do it though ? hand on heart I can't see it and that hurts saying that, I'm sure KK71 would agree.
IMO whatever Plot says to the team I hope they take matters in their own hands for his tactics 1st leg left us wide open down both our flanks, recipe for disaster.
Our back 3 were pulled wide open gaps galore.
First up we got league vs Fulham coming up whilst PSG have nothing till the 2nd leg - our bench isn't up to it, Isak finally back lacking match fitness.
I fear the worst BUT I know our fans will spur them on, I hope the team absorbs it no matter who's on - snag 1 nothing is impossible I suppose go from there.

Yes totally agree this is not 2019 when we were playing some great football this is 2026 and we are dishing up dross on a scale I have rarely seen a Liverpool side deliver. Having said that under lights a rocking Anfield an an early goal - then PSG would be shitting themselves :ROFLMAO: so never say never but im only 20/80 :sneaky:
