Lucky you never played in a proper winter and wearing a mitre mouldmaster on your inner thigh. You could see the writing in red on your leg for half a day.My head hurts just looking at those old Mitre leather balls.... let alone trying to head one on a wet Sunday morning.
Four Scotsmen in that photo, plus a lot of Aussie internationals.Tough looking bunch.

The four Scot’s are ET, Kenny Murphy, Joe Watson and Alec Robertson, all played or managed the Australian national team. Wee Joe also has his Rangers Jacket on. Jeff Olver is one of the dinky di’s.he's a young un in this big picture Sutho.
I sure didn't suffer playing the winters you did but was bad enough here for us.

Fields full of mud even that heavy iron leather ball stops in them puddles !
I can picture some faces but names escape me - Eddie Thomson is one eh ?

Good GK a foe to SMH I recall.
Some great names of the past.
Hey Sutho and any other British posters, the article mentions Aussie football being familiar to Brits back then because it appeared in the Summer soccer pools coupon.. Is that true? Did anyone know anything about our clubs?
Yep, Aussie games certainly were in the British Pools back then, even before the National League started. I recall seeing the first division games from NSW, Vic, Qld, SA and possibly WA on there. The pools were also available in Australia.Hey Sutho and any other British posters, the article mentions Aussie football being familiar to Brits back then because it appeared in the Summer soccer pools coupon..
