Germany tried it with a rainbow armband last time and crashed out. That's nearly as embarrassing. Players got too distracted and he documentary on Germany 2022 with filmed player coach meetings were something else. The players thought Flick was off his head with tactics.

Wearing rainbow armbands didn’t cause Germany to have a shit World Cup. They just played like shit. If Argentina wore them they still would’ve won the World Cup.
 
I wonder if Circati will be mentioned by Italy as a loss and just another part of their many problems.

It certainly contributed to it. There was in fighting about whether to do it and the players only got interviewed about that stuff. The coach also had wild team meetings where the players were clearly at odds with his tactics and lamented a lot of non football distractions.

Denmark were similar with their own protest about Qatar and it got into their heads.

We also wore them didn’t we? It’s absolutely fine to protest how Qatar treats LGBTQ people. It’s not even really political, they’re humans with rights.

I would not consider the Euro's, the Copa America, the Asian Cup or the AFCON for that matter to be a regional tournament as that statement appears to disparage the respective quality of it. Let's face it, FIFA's relentless expansion of the WC with a month long group stage won't elevate it's quality at all until the Quarter Finals at least. Italy's problem is psychological.

Greece qualified for 2010 3rd in a tough group with Argentina, SKorea and Nigeria. and in 2014 reached the round of 16, one penalty away from a Quarter final berth... not a bad "drought"

Eh, that's right - if anything, Italy's Euro 2020 win is more of an underdog story than Greece's in hindsight ;)

though the fact of the matter is it is over there as you and we well know.
I understand the initiative/protest very much by the 7 NT's BUT there is a time and a place as well......
No organisation like FIFA or whoever would allow that after a host had spent est $300B - thems the simple business facts re any event.

Pictures of Ryan show he had one that said education for all and another with save the planet. The problem with Qatar was it was all lip service. The same people who say everyone should have rights are the same to denounce anyone saying local cultures should be respected. It's the leftist catch 22. They shrieked at the cause but that didn't stop them taking massive commentary pay packets. Sure, they're just one person but it's this virtue signalling crap with no substance that has crept into everything the general population want to enjoy. I guess the question is, do we let leisure and sport mask world issues? I guess we always have been.

The most idiotic thing was a German minister wearing it in the stands and everyone else around her groaning with a look of 'grow up'. I get the cause is worthy but it's like the well off jet setter going on Caribbean and Maldives holidays saying how awesome Fridays for Future is because their grandchild made a cardboard sign.

Can't even remember what it was but Germany McDonald's recently had an international selection and they had stuff that made sense the then the Australian think was sunrise onion rings or something.

Aussie burger all the way.
