2025–26 A-League Women — regular season matches

Tameka Yallop scores in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time for Brisbane Roar to extend their lead further to 5-2 and get her first goal since returning from injury. Ashlyn Miller with the assist.

Brisbane Roar ran out 5-2 winners over Perth Glory in their last home game of the year to get A-League Women matchday 21 underway, with Momo Hayashi scoring a brace of goals in the 32nd and 65th minute on her birthday, along with goals to Aimee Medwin, Kijah Stephenson and Tameka Yallop in the 20th, 57th and seventh minute of second half stoppage time respectively. The result sees Brisbane Roar move into the top six and go fifth on the ladder on 28 points with their eighth win of the season, whilst Perth Glory are eighth on 24 points after suffering their ninth loss this year.

They might escape the ignominy of winning the spoon! 🤣
Sydney FC now second from bottom following their 2-1 win in the return leg of the Big Blue and can only win the spoon if Western Sydney Wanderers defeat Wellington Phoenix away in their last game of the season, and they lose to Central Coast Mariners at Polytec Stadium next week.

How many Panamanian players do you know?
Lol I know of their captain Marta Cox (who was actually born in Panama City despite her Anglophone surname). Plays for Fenerbahçe. Threatened to never play for Panama again after being called "fat" by the grub who ran the federation.

Looking at their squad a few ring a bell. They’ve got some playing at decent clubs I must say!

Regardless of how we look at it, this season has been a disaster. The highest we can finish is second last since the Jets won today. Good squad, bad results. Annoyingly we’ve come close in a few and had so many 0–0 draws but we haven’t been able to win games. At the start we couldn’t score, then Ante Jurić got sacked and replaced by James Slaveski as interim, then we couldn’t defend. Midfield has been shocking too.

Next season we have to actually attack and defend at the same time. We’ve got a clean slate next season, start from scratch and rebuild. We need to at least make finals next season. We need to rebuild back to our days of glory and success, starting with making finals, then winning domestically and then winning in Asia.

Who is to blame?
You say they couldn’t defend and midfield was ‘shocking’, didn’t score many goals either. They changed coaches but still couldn’t win so the problem seems to be quite deep.
I’m not having a go just wondering what has caused the fall from grace.

Defence was fine till we tweaked it. Today we played five at the back apparently but it doesn’t look like Charlotte McLean played well which was always a big worry for me. Hopefully it’s just her readapting to the league.

I would say whoever plays as striker, usually Jodi Ülkekul, hasn’t been good enough, and midfield hasn’t been good either. Sarah Hunter came back from Paris FC in quite poor form. I don’t know, something isn’t working. They seem to get along so I don’t know.

To be fair Sydney FC have also been struggling with an injury crisis throughout the season where they've been without key players for most of the year, and it's likely Sarah Hunter, Maddie Caspers and Hana Lowry won't be getting any more game time this year, along with Indiana Dos Santos who will most likely miss the entirety of Dub season 2025-26.
