A-league attendances

Have to disagree. As a fan, I could not care less which club a player was at previously. If they are at my club they have my support. As soon as results start flowing, fans forget the past and embrace the now. Look at Mata. MV fans where very critical when he was signed. Now he is the shining light. Is it frustrating when a player goes to a rival club, absolutely, but you move on. Happens all the time. Is it nice when a player sticks around, absolutely, but it's a luxury not an expectation. Important to remember, that players and coaches aren't necessarily fans of the club they are currently at. A player getting to play for the club they grew up supporting is not that common. As fans we get to choose our club, whereas opportunity and performance chooses where a player plays.
I will say it will be interesting if Talay ends up at WSW. It's become a bit of a black hole for coaches. None last more than two seasons. Always have solid squads yet can't get results. If I were Talay, I'd take any other A-League club over WSW.
Well we disagree and majority seem to be on your side. I think it's a good discussion thx for sharing your points 👍

I think we will see what Talay is truly capable of if he gets the gig at WSW. He did well with a paper thin budget at the Nixs but then was hit and miss with SFC. WSW like SFC have big budgets but also have good youth they rarely get a touch and I believe Talay will tap into that and bring out a top 6 side.

Mate it helps to see your relationship to your club in a similar vein to a relationship with, I dont know, a book club or a car club or a pokemon collectors club or any other shared activity that revolves around common love of a specific thing. The players, staff and coaches are the employees, in football's case, that play.
In a car club the same function is served by the volunteers at the registration desk handing out the ribbons for best car.. the club is the community, the team is one function of the club ... not sure if Im explaining it well... Last weeks player is fondly remembered (sometimes not) but this weeks player is idolised... until they leave.... :)

I'd say it's not a black and white situation either. No proper domestic transfer/loans system means it's easier for players to switch clubs when their contract is up. Salary cap means short contracts without auto-extension clauses. No second division means young players are lacking that transitional step into professional football. Young players are often signed to fill the quota and then shuffled off to the next clubs' bench after a year or two. I'd say if those issues (among others) were actually addressed we'd probably see an increased rate of player retention, albeit with a possible increased rate of players going overseas.

Interetsing comment.. Would you rather Brisbane be competitive ON or OFF the field?

To clarify, would you rather finish top 2-3 every year for a decade in front of 5,000 fans or languish mid table in front of 15,000?
Id rather them feel like a qld club because they are mostly qlders. Thats probably why adelaide get crowds even when not doing amazing

It would be easier to watch them lose if they were mostly qlders

It's more just a reflection of how unprofessional the clubs are imo. Like if you loved a restaurant and you go there it's different staff every week you'll be like wtf where's romero oh he is working next door now.

And that happens a million times more than football.

You need change for your life to be interesting.

Every football supporter looks forward to the transfer windows to see what new players you are getting.

So you DON'T care if they win lose or draw, OR if they are successful off the pitch? Why bother with a club at all when you can just follow the junior state rep teams during tournaments?

Great example mate.. So you find a restaurant that you and the missus absolute love the food at and want to go at least once a week....... you dont stop going because the waiters change or the guy washing the dishes decides to go travelling to SE Asia for a year.....

EPL isnt football anymore mate, I agree.... Its an entertainment product....
yep pretty much :( its becoming a shitshow and worse how the game is played atm.
The time is gonna come your gonna have pick/change what ticks your box's one day.
$ ruining the beautiful game - loyalty is thrown out the window.
Grass roots might end up growing for the better one day haha

I mean I still watch mate but to be be honest these past 1-2 years I find the Prem Boooooorrring... Like you have said in another thread, Arsenal winning this season by putting the whole world to sleep.

hahha we are not different at all brother.... Your club is always invited to play in "my" league, its your league that keeps my club out :(

And to be fair to the EPL it IS the best league in the land, by every metric, on and off the pitch as all clubs compete to rise to the top. The Aleague on the other hand is the "top league" because 10 owners say it is, no other metric but their say so.

To a lesser extent than that poor bloke, but Jets members being kicked out of their seats at the Victory grand final, was the beginning of the end for me as a member. That was FA, don't know if they still do it, but what a stupid decision

They do it for all the finals series. Pisses me off too.
