Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

If you simplify it you cant cover the players absent on the weekend. Yuki, Tommy G, Seb and Menalaou are 4 killers, but then we cant even use the depth types Leech and Pope. Thats 6 players and 4 of them are genuine superstars.

Realistically what can you expect? Decimate Preston, Heidelbergs, Oakleighs midfield like that and they wouldnt win a game either.

The other problem is when everyone returns we dont have a prolific striker and our front line is painfully slow.

My other gripe why are we playing a home game on a Tuesdsay night at the same time the socceroos are playing at aami?
Who gives a shit, as if anyone that cares about South is going to go watch a national team friendly over a home game?

You raise a good point. Without Giannakopoulos, Pasquali, Menelaou, Leech, and Pope, there is literally a non-existent midfield. That's not easily replaceable. We got away with it against Altona Magic, and had Pasquali at least against Green Gully.

If the coaching staff want to take Giannakopoulos and Pasquali to the next OFC Pro League hub, then they have to leave Menelaou and Leech back in Melbourne. We cannot be exposed like that again.

Leech and Pope played against Altona and Leech was almost best on ground. What we saw on Saturday was overkill, ok we got Mikkola and Lampard back but 2 left side players arent going to change shit for you when you have nothing in the middle.

Its not about watching. Its about the fact that we clearly have no say in what goes on at Lakeside which leaves us with these shit timeslots.
and what exactly are the non-shit time-slots that are going to bring the thousands out to see a second string XI play Dandy City?

There are a million one things to complain about, playing on Tuesday instead of a Monday isn't one of them.

Don't see it with a lot of these young guys. Papadimitriou wasn't bad, Killick gets in the right spots, Skapoulas has some swagger which I like

Bonada and Dovison have a good connection.

Mikkola's sooking wasn't a good look.

Singh needs more mongrel.

Thousands are gone outside the championship. A good time slot is the difference between 600 ppl and 150 ppl. We will have the latter next Tuesday.

This game should be Sunday arvo but im assuming its booked for something else on the weekend, hence the Monday, and now we've probably been bumped for something else.

Athletics is on Saturday - Sunday - theyve been locked out for the GP as well... I assume Monday is to fix the pitch from all the dints in it from shotput and discus etc ... beggars cant be choosers and we are beggers at Lakeside and always will be. I dont care if we get 150 or 600 anymore, in 3-4 years max we'll be in the Aleague and all those plastics that rocked up for the Championship games can come down and tells us how much better Awartife and Talaidoro were...

Its not Awaritife and Taliadoros, its Trimmers and Boutsi with the odd Wadey thrown in lol.

You laugh as do I but it hurts.. These people dont even know we exist anymore... we got decent crowds for a month and what did we do to keep them coming back?

NOTHING!!!!!!!

Tuesday its gonna be me and you and the 200 odd, seriously maladjusted usual suspects.. If it was on Sunday there perhaps may have been another 50-150 people... thats pathetic either way.

Personally i hate the weeknight lakeside games because traffic is usually horrendous. Sunday arvo is usually the best run in.

The championship followers have gone back to their local Greek clubs, i have not seen them since the Marconi game but they're all scattered around. You wont see them again until October.
Perhaps a few but a big majority I spoke to were Melb City and Victory fans more than local NPL clubs....

The ones i know are all local, they would struggle to name you an A league player. These ppl even came to our dead rubber game against Broadmeadow Magic in horrific weather!

Maybe the grand final attracted more of the A league types but our games at lakeaide werw very heavy npl/state contingent.

Not the ones around me... The kids were wearing Victory hats and a couple of people directly asked why they dont see me at AAMI if I love soccer so much.
