I went on sbs bit later as soon as the Mrs dozed off :) started watching till around midnight, paused needed to get the Z'zzzzzzzz.
Been great so far.

I absolutely loved it. The family doesn't really follow the game, but they couldn't stop watching it. They were actually in tears at the end when they googled Puskás and learnt that he made it back to his home in Hungary and ended up with Alzheimer's. The things that get us 😔
 
agree mate - no disrepect to our beloved one eyed SMH fellas I enjoy his brilliant early career and the whole nostalgia of the game abroad and here.
Just looking at our crowds back then marvellous, the amount of twisted bitter dislike towards us ethnics since those times really saddens me.
It has been racism to the ilk, be it the anglo press/other codes AND the game played by the intro of the AL to separate its model clenseing to new dawn world. Real piss off.
Just look at that history of the game eh ?! that they have banished.
I rate Puskas here just as big as it was ADP turning up for eg....iconic Euro players.
As mentioned there is a Puskas FIFA award says it all.

The comments by players how he operated was hilarious - he was just a typical average happy person loving the game that much didn't matter what level - seeing him on average local grounds laced up plodding along but wow what ball skill.
Thinking the post Marconi game pasta platter was all his LOL........

Glad your endoctranating your family to the beautiful game more HG, yes it does bring tears to your eyes incl age catch's up with you and by what - real sad for him bitch of a way to go.
I'll watch the rest late toinight.
 
Just watched! Brilliant doco, hilarious watching him play with a giant beer belly and still hitting a killer pass

Love that you loved it mate. I watched it at the Astor, a couple of summers ago now (and quite a few times since) and always get a little teary... Something about the nostalgia of it, I turned 16 that season, went to pretty much every match with mates or cousins, at Middle Park it was a fortress, an absolute goalfest ... Puskas was larger than life, a true celebrity, first time I ever saw my dad speechless was when we shook his hand. The man was considered a god in Greece as well, I visited shortly after his stint at South and hung around a bunch of the Gate 13 Utlras for a few weeks, all they wanted to talk about was how big a club South Melbourne must be to have a coach like Puskas.. hahahahahahah

After all of the cinema screenings when the doco first launched they had the producers on and usually a couple of ex players (my one had Trimmers and Mikki P) and the best part of the night for me was the look on the faces of the current senior players and reserves players after the lights went on and the applause started for the doco. One of the producers relayed the story of when they were in Budapest wanting to visit the tomb of Ference Puskas at the national Cathedral and were told that NOBODY can go down without a special security clearance unless they were from one of Mr Puska's football clubs, Real Madrid, Honved, Panathinaikos etc. When they guys mentioned Hellas they got a guided tour and access to anything they wanted to the envy of hundreds of other visitors on the day. I think some of these semi pro NPL players finally understood why we think this shirt is so heavy....
