Hahah yeah I get that but the pile on to these young athlete's sort of sucks. Im personally NOT gonna hate on some 20 year old kid for wanting to repsetn Italy ro Croatia or ENgland or whatever one day, good luck to them.. I AM however annoyed that our on FA doesnt identify these kids earlier and do enought o entice the to stay loyal...I'd hazard a guess and say we are more happy for us (us being fans of the Australian National team) rather than the player themselves. Ultimately we gain some joy and happiness from the Socceroos' playing/winning. Anyone who can potentially increase the likelihood of that winning feeling is glorious. Anyone who might take that away stinks. Groundbreaking
Spot on. They had Stipe Pletikosa checking in on him and telling him how important he could be for Croatia, and we sat on our hands. Call it Croatia stockpiling players, call it whatever you want. At the end of the day, they got him and we didn't because they're more professional, assertive and savvy. Our naivety and stubbornness to properly handle dual nationals has cost us again.Whats changed?
HNS and Ivica Olic kept tabs on him and were always in negotiations with the player.
No one from the popovic staff / socceroo's reached out to him.
I feel as though, he went where he was wanted.
Because these players were, in most cases, born in Australia, raised in Australia, developed through the Australian system, played for Australian clubs and were so good they got to play in bigger leagues, and then all of the sudden they turn their back on their own country to play for a country they weren’t born, raised or developed in and never played in.Can I ask why everyone seems to celebrate when an Aussie player leaves the Aleague and moves to European league, even a second division yet everyone here seems to be devastated when another player chooses to represent a superior nation in international football?
These are just kids, trying to make their mark on the world, why cant people just be happy for them?

Yeah agreed, something is obviously going on underneath the surface. Although switches have been happening forever, the vibe is off with these ones. Still, he stinks nowHahah yeah I get that but the pile on to these young athlete's sort of sucks. So what? Who gives a shit? Don't know how you think you can tell another human being what they can or cannot feel about their own identity.Because these players were, in most cases, born in Australia, raised in Australia, developed through the Australian system, played for Australian clubs and were so good they got to play in bigger leagues, and then all of the sudden they turn their back on their own country to play for a country they weren’t born, raised or developed in and never played in.
Why does he have to call it his homeland? Can't the lad just want to represent a nation NOT satisfied with finishing 11th?Can't blame hm if he sees it as his homeland and loves his country, just not enough to ever call it his homeland and actually live there![]()
To be fair to the guy, he's always going to pretend to be patriotic to his latest country, even if his decision is more based on playing for a better team with more chance of success. Not sure it would poll positively with the Cro's if he said anything other than that he loves the country/feels croatian etc etc.Why does he have to call it his homeland? Can't the lad just want to represent a nation NOT satisfied with finishing 11th?
They are his words. Ask him.Why does he have to call it his homeland? Can't the lad just want to represent a nation NOT satisfied with finishing 11th?
No different to EVERY single player signing interview ever... "Loved this club from afar, always wanted to play *insert stadium here in front of the *insert club faithful, cant wait to give it my all"To be fair to the guy, he's always going to pretend to be patriotic to his latest country, even if his decision is more based on playing for a better team with more chance of success. Are you seriously promoting some sort of fashco assimilation "dinky di-ism"?They are his words. Ask him.

I have searched and searched and can find nothing about his dad having Oz links. Would love it if he did, but there seems to be zilch online.Harrison Ashby was good enough to play a single Premier League game for West Ham against Arsenal on 15Dec2021 and a Europa League game against Dinamo Zagreb 6 days prior. 29 games for QPR in Championship last season. Plays as a right back / right wing back.

Who is Harrison Ashby? Newcastle United's £3m right-back who might have one last chance to impress
He needs to shine this summer.www.geordiebootboys.com
