Why did VAR even check that goal?
Is it still possible for someone to score a goal without VAR trying to rule it out?
VAR is a blight on the game and should be abolished.

VAR has value, the problem is that they have made it such that they have become too reliant on it. So it was brought in for the clear and obvious, but they have turned it into lets check every single thing.

VAR should be checking the goal during the celebration, not holding up play. It should not take this long. If they can't find anything, then move on. The problem is though, in the age of TV, fans will see a replay and get pissed off if it shows something is off. VAR has a place, but it needs clear guidelines and regulations.

She just gets quite overlooked by awards like the Ballon d’Or which consistently favour two specific Catalan Barcelona players (Aitana Bonmatí and Alèxia Putellas) anyway (since they’re voted by general football journos, not necessarily women’s football ones).

She currently plays for Chelsea and previously played for Lyon. Chelsea were until this season long crowned the best team in England until they shat the bed this season. Lyon dominate France and were the best team in the world until Barça came along in the 2020s.

It’s not really loyalty. It’s literally in the first paragraph of her Wikipedia page. It just happens to be that she’s had poor games in big games that everyone watches (namely this game and the England game).

The winger experiment could be tested for the Tillies in a friendly but not in a competition. She’s done well on the right wing for Chelsea.

For near on every tilly game I watch not just the 2 you mention - yer she's quick, yer she tackles and tracks back, she dribbles like a train wreck, her cross's are hit and miss so so many times.

Are you basing this off only tournament matches? She’s been pretty good in friendlies barring the SheBelieves Cup in which everyone sucked.

I'm basing on what I watch plain and simple for NT games.
Overhated ? yer well thats for whoever I just express what I see as a player, many mistakes (yep every player errors, some more than others) at this level imo - for me over rated and obviously as mentioned no one is pressuring her spot.
Your invested and into her you need to accept other pov's.
When and IF she plays a cracker I shall so.

Matildas getting either China, Chinese Taipei or Vietnam in the play-in match should we lose our quarterfinal depending on how the group C matches pan out, and assuming China hold on for a 2-1 win over North Korea.
