Women's Asian Cup match discussion thread

The only reason why the Matildas have to resort to route one to salvage a point is because we haven't been clinical and failed to capitalise on chances early on, and conceded goals easily.
Apart from being one-dimensional and wasteful in attack, sloppy to non-existent in midfield, and looking like rabbits in the headlights when defending, the Matildas have looked good.

Cross right into the middle of the box and only one player attacking it. Terrible. I can't think that Joe is happy with this football, so I'm a bit confused why it's happening. Why does he insist on the players who are not worth it. A part of me questions the players here. Joe doesn't play into traffic, so why are the players doing that.

Tony tried heaps of rookies who weren't of the grade and it only confirmed the poor player development. At the same time many of the cohort have matured and feature more regularly now.

Alanna Kennedy scores the equaliser in the eighth minute of second half stoppage time to level the scores at 3-3, also getting her brace for the second time in two matches. Sam Kerr with the assist.

That's a good finish. For all the criticism I do give her, that is a good finish considering the pressure.

Oh of course, checking the goal, but not the blatant foul on Kerr.

That was a poor performance. Joe needs to be more ruthless. Can't keep carrying passengers in the team.

I don't like Kerr's attitude. Foord is too costly upfront. Macca is letting in some easy goals.

Full time at Stadium Australia, with the Matildas managing to salvage a 3-3 draw against South Korea in their last Women's Asian Cup group A match. The result sees both South Korea and the Tillies finish on seven points, but we finish second in the group on inferior for and against and will face the runners-up in group B on Friday at HBF Park in the fourth quarterfinal.

Philippines ran out 2-0 winners over Iran in the other group A match to finish third in the group and likely make the eight as one of the two best third-placed sides.

I don't think they were actually checking the goal itself - I did catch a glimpse of the referee flashing a yellow card during the goal celebration. On the replay I saw the Korean goalkeeper holding onto the ball, and Foord smashing it out of her arms and a bit of afters between them. I assume this is what the VAR check was for.

Matilda’s were poor, can’t see them getting anything out of a clash with China or Nth Korea. Another disappointing let down once again by the Australian women’s football team.

Why did VAR even check that goal?
Is it still possible for someone to score a goal without VAR trying to rule it out?
VAR is a blight on the game and should be abolished.
