The fab Perth Stadium. Has proven a top shelf venue for international cricket, will do the same for international Soccer.

Hearing Cam Green and Josh Inglis will play shield for WA. No news on others. The Blues could use Steve Smith again.
 
To my knowledge I am witnessing the first state U19s red ball cricket match, between the Blues and Vics. Is this a move by the two states to put their names before selectors for the next U19 international youth Test. I dont see any similar matches by other states so perhaps it is only these two. Be good for the format to play an annual multi state series. I'd like to see that.
 
After a first day washout the Blues/Vics match is evenly poised at stumps on day 2.

A ton by Nitesh Samuel and 55* by Alex Lee-Young has the Blues just edging ahead then declaring this morning.
 
Vics have declared after a maximum from Archie Flynn. Can the Blues reach the 180ish target in the last session. An exciting finish awaits as the game reverts to T20 mod.
 
Blues well on track, 140 off 25 overs without loss with the promising Nitesh Samuel falling just short of his second century of the match.

Blues win in a canter. Samuel is my most valuable player.

The kid who hit the winning run, Blake Cattle is still 16 or just turned 17 and is already playing club Firsts.
Has been decades since I was this excited over the talent coming thru Blues junior pathways. And with poor coach Greg Shipperd now axed I may well make them my top team again.

Watched 2 ODIs live. Aus v India at Bellerive in Friday for a day night game, and yesterday.

Australia won decisively in both games.

Some other features were:

* India's stylish batting. There were a lot of elegant red ball style cricket shots played by top six batters with good technique, but who may have lost concentration at key moments.

* Alana King's wrist spin. A mate of mine, a former underage state team wrist spinner, thinks she is good enough to play second div men's county cricket. She has good control, loop, and imparts spin with good line.

* Australia's fielding - a notch up from Aus state sides and India's. King missed a catch she got both hands to, but the fielding by Aus was generally petty slick.

* Aus scoring over 400 in last night's game. Good team batting.
 
DC the Test match starts on the 6th with the Aussies looking for a series clean sweep. My starting X1.

There is a West Aussie and an ACT player who’ve been dominant against Tas in recent games too. I’ve forgotten their names!
 
I think Shield starts in a few days.

Tas play Vic at Bellerive. It will be interesting to see who Vic play? Cricket Aus tend to rest a few national players!

I hope they don’t feel too tired to go and earn some easy money in the IPL. Apparently, the Indian Cricket Board don’t let their players play in other domestic T20 comps.

Time for some of the feted/soft Aus T20 poor performing World Cup team to play some hard red ball cricket!

Shield fixtures getting back underway on the Wednesday with Tasmania playing Victoria, then two matches starting this Thursday with Queensland playing Western Australia and South Australia hosting New South Wales at Karen Rolton Oval.
 
Is anyone following the T20 WC with Aus eliminated?

I have Amazon Prime, but I’m just not interested enough in T20 to follow neutral teams.

Neither O'Connor or Smith. In fact no all rounders, Have gone with an extra bat in Mac Wright. Still side lining Neil-Smith.

Reckon Bird has stayed a season too long with only 20 w @ 31 before today. And he has had helpful pitches, specially at Bellerive. Did you know 'squid' was his nick name. Webster 'slug'. Not very flattering monikers given down in the Apple Isle, tho Neil-Smiths 'beast' is flattering.

I am noticing Sam Konstas is regaining his consistency. On top of his century and two halves he is managing to start well in a majority of his innings, meaning he is keeping his wicket in tact for about 20 overs before his dismissal. This then translates to easier conditions for a following bat.

None have been able to capitalize with six Blues back in the sheds after only 40 overs.

A face saving partnership from Davies/Stobo has stopped the rot. Tail now batting in easier conditions.

The Tigers have the comp front runners in big poo at the 50 over mark and could roll them for under 200. All out for 222, Meredith hitting late season form with 4 poles.
