TBH honest the camp needs to be more than 26. I would absolutely have Farrell in camp. For two reasons. Compare with Elder for that spot. but more importantly to play intersquad games where he frustrates Irankunda. In my mind Irankunda is an immnse risk but high reward at the World Cup.

Let intersquad games happen with Farrell there to piss him off. We all know every team knows he is a hothead and he will be targeted. Let Farrell do it in camp and Popovic get it into his head that if he is getting fouled that is to our advantage. Constant fouls will lead to free kicks and cards for the opponents. That is to our advantage, Irankunda getting sent off is definitely not. Make it clear to Irankunda that reactions in the two games means he doesn't make the World Cup. We need 11 men in every game.
Being at home, definitely! Bring some more in as they're just down the road. Inevitable withdrawals and in camp niggles mean we may have to call a few in anyway.

With the injuries to regulars we'll see some changes and I wonder if Popovic means surprises on top of that.

Out: Miller, Goodwin, Elder, Souttar, Toure

Behich is a shoe in. Duke will be in. Someone like Hrustic could get a spot. I think Segecic will be overlooked.

Did I miss anyone?

Surprises might come from guys like: Volpato, Sapsford, Bennie, T. Yengi, Suto, Strain and Herrington. They shouldn't be surprises but I hope Segecic and Robertson are picked.

I wouldn't complain about any of those included but it's a shame we can't squeeze all of them in.

I swear if Okon, Teague or other favourites get picked...

Popovic saying someone regular could shift into the striker role. Boyle I bet... At least D'Agostino isn't available. He shouldn't even be short listed. Starting him against the USA...

Plz no Duke.

If you watch AFC Elite 2. The guy couldnt hold the ball and totally useless. Plus he is 2X slower. Unless you don't care about the club form and pick him.
Duke has runs on the board with the great Saudi away display but only came in for the North American window. I thought we'd finally phased him out.

He has lasted a long time because he was amongst the best choices as a striker. Not sure that he can contribute for a full game at World Cup level anymore and a few others have now put their hands up. If picked I can only see him as a 20 minute player if we are defending a lead. He has been a good warrior for us for some time but I think his time is probably passed now.

We either pick him for that precise role or we don't pick him. But it also takes out others that are mentioned that can't do that role as well. e.g. Borello. D'Agostino and Boyle

Way too late to be doing this but if we don't have Toure I'd play Irvine as a false 9 and then we can squeeze another skilled midfielder who can finish or another pacey type.

Irvine further up creates havoc in the box as he'll scuff it into awkward spots. His press and anticipation would also disrupt opponents playing out. Ecuador first friendly he was higher up and smothered them leading to many chances.

Irvine as a 6 is way too exposed. He's much better with others behind him and in tight spaces. Too much time and space and he stumbles and can't play a good long ball.

The two I would try there as false 9s are Invine and Garang Kuol. Kuol is wasted out wide. His acceleration is exactly what could cause chaos.

My 26 for the March window - I don't think I have any injured players listed. average age a shade under 25.

I reckon Kuol needs to be a starter with form to justify a call up. Would be behind it if he was.

I like this idea. I think Kalik could do alright there too. I wonder how Irankunda would go also, though probs not as suited to a false 9 in fairness.

The problem is he is not being played where he is best. I also don't like Kalik - he was always behind Liam Rose and I don't think playing for a top team in a league with no real other top teams has actually subjected him to any real pressure. I think if you play Kuol there in the March window he will shine and his club will play in the right position

I asked Google AI if Garang Kuol was popular with the Sparta Prague fanbase. Reply:
"Fan Sentiment & Reception
  • Initial Skepticism to Approval: Fans were initially cautious given his "forgotten man" status after loans in Scotland and the Netherlands, but they have been won over by his work ethic and commitment in duels.
  • Impacting the Game: Supporters have reportedly been "happy" and "impressed" with his contributions, particularly as he has successfully adapted to a more central midfield or "inside" attacking role rather than his traditional wing position.
  • Emerging "Cult" Status: His fearlessness and "Energizer Bunny" energy on the pitch have resonated with the Letná crowd, leading to increasing calls for him to receive more starting minutes"
