Matildas match thread

Disappointed to see Arnold in goal again surely the two keepers they brought in to camp could handle the likes of Taiwan and that’s not being disrespectful to Taiwan.
Also why is Polkinghorne in the starting lineup, I thought she retired after the Brisbane game.

Mackenzie Arnold is the starting keeper for the Matildas and also Teagan Micah's returned to club football with Liverpool. I also thought Polks was retiring after the game in Brisbane but it seems Sermanni wants game 169 in Geelong to be her last before she retires from all football.

Doesn't mean he couldn't have started Lincoln or Aquino, probably Lincoln though. Perfect opportunity to give them an outing and that taste of International football. Macca is losing things a bit and Micah is 29. We need to be finding that 3rd option who can slot in if either of them can't.

Chloe Lincoln's gotten her debut replacing Mackenzie Arnold and becoming Matildas cap number 233. She could be the third option apart from Macca and Micah.
 
Matildas now lead 6-0 after goals to Tash Prior and Sharn Freier in the 73rd and 78th minute respectively. Can't see them losing this one any time soon.
 
Laura Hughes has also gotten a debut, becoming Matildas cap number 234 and replacing Michelle Heyman in the 70th minute of the game.

What's our best CB pairing? I feel we need Catley there even though Hunt and Heatley are good. I never want to see Kennedy there again.

I'd say our best centre-back pairing would be Catley and either one of Clare Hunt, Wini Heatley or Jessika Nash if we opt to go for a back four, and I agree that Alanna Kennedy should be moved into the defensive midfielder position given that it's her primary position in club football and she does better playing there as opposed to playing as a defender.

Yes, 100%. Especially if we make the final then I think that might break the TV record set by the semi against England (which was 11 million I think).
