hopefully we don't start using ai for major decisions!

I asked deepseek about why a lot of Brisbane Roar fans deserted the club. And what they do now in a football fans context...

I gave the former Brisbane Roar fan group "Northern Element" a kind of ex-pat British young middle class hipsters type bringing their British fan culture to the A League, as an example because they were quite a vocal part if the Suncorp Stadium crowd 15-20 years ago and are now totally gone from the club's support.

Deepseek worked out, with a few prompts they are now watching local football in the NPL.(some of.them do watch Brisbane City).

This is what deepseek came up with...

2. The NPL Ground as Theatre

Now place this creature at an NPL match on a Sunday afternoon:

· The setting: Migrant club in a working-class suburb. Families. Old men who actually worked in factories. Sausage sizzle. $5 beers.

· The NPL Snob: Standing slightly apart. Holding a tinnie of something hazy and overpriced they brought from home. Talking about how the coffee at the club canteen is "actually not bad - they use Seven Seeds now."

They're tourists in someone else's authentic culture, using it as a backdrop for their own performance.

The scary thing is, I cant tell if THATS becuase I post too much and AI is using me as source material. hahahahaha

One fan group (Northern Element hipsters) reads about authenticity. The other ( traditional old soccer fan) are it—whether they know it or not....
 
Once AI starts referencing itself it'll degrade measurably.

A lot of the stuff is flat out wrong because when it scrapes the internet it looks for the most written about thing not whether that is factually correct or not. Then it publishes the wrong information, then the next time a search is done that wrong information becomes part of the data set.

Then it's in a loop.

A lot of the AI stuff is overhyped.

Yep. For deeper stuff it's still incredibly flawed. The question is whether consumers will get pissed off at, say, an AI itinerary planner and the lack of human excitement going over plans or just planning a trip oneself anyway.

The way you can tell AI it's actually wrong on some tax matter then apologises to your is no different to speaking to some bumbling knob in a suit.

We've used AI to suggest itineraries based on our preferred activities for our last 2 trips. It's fantastic for that sort of thing.

It's a great starting point and you can finesse it no end. 'more hiking, less shopping etc'.

We're old fashioned and still buy the lonely planets but ChatGPT kicks arse for this sort of thing as a starting point and then you drill down into the details after that.

For example rather than navigate Taiwanese websites for road closures in Taroko Gorge which we were finding difficult to source we just asked GPT and it spat out the exact times.

Long story short it's fantastic for some things, overhyped for others.

That's where it's at. You can get essentials done quickly. It's the claim that these higher order thinking matters can be done and this is where clients get posse doff when systems say 'I'm sorry I can't identify a solution to the unique nature of your problem.'

In saying that consulting has become nervous as a lot of the obvious analysis is no being down in house rather than external people using death by power point for a tidy fee.

So the whole premise of this little story was about a particular Brisbane Roar fangroup, the 'Northern Element' with their British football chants, nice middle class hipster types who, after a decade of the A League thought it was too plastic for their 'hipster' aesthetic.

They started to follow a traditional Australian ethnic club in Brisbane City, because in terms of the football cultural experience it was more earthy, more real....

But AI spots that these fella's were sticking out like a sore thumb, more plastic on that environment than at the A League...

I thought that was fucken hilarious...
 
I've only really used AI browsers as a search engine extension - like copilot which talks back to you.

Loke asking if Birra Morreti was on special at Dan Murphy this week etc.

Or other regular bits of information.

Never thought about asking it's opinion on something before.

I find it more entertaining in a comedic sense than any thoughts of reality....

But the Brisbane Roar thing might have changed my mind!!

You're right. It's weird that Croatia, Hungary and Italy make such shithouse beers when they're a stones throw away from Germany and the Czech Republic who makes some of the best beers on earth.
