Oh for sure nothing like facts - my post was purely based as offthecuff recalling imo no Gov knew how to manage the "pandemic" by script, managing it was like trying to keep a good eye on a moving target hour by hour - it was damage control not seen since WW2 for eg.
Knowing the side of the fence you stand on I prefer a more balanced outlook politically instead of pushing one side only for I am not one eyed.
Below provides a fair summary from way back to near on to date - obviously its someone else's research and may not be agreed by all but I prefer looking at there is always some good from either side of the fence and naturally wrongs as well.
I like that this guy says about "timing" and that is very true, as far as I'm concerned thats how some of the leaders we have had came to position more than anything else.

Yeah - the simple matter is that governments only have some effect. Luck, GFC, pandemic, wars, things that they can't stop all have an effect. I think back to 'the debt and deficit disaster' election of 2013, basically while in the recovery of the GFC, the ALP was pilloried. Then Morrison pre-pandemic won without a murmur on debt and deficit, except for a bunch of collectible mugs. Then in 2022 he blamed the pandemic when two-thirds was accumulated during a benign period of a mining boom and amid service cuts.

TBH - in spite of the rhetoric - Australia is actually quite a robust economy. A lot of that can be thanks to treasury and their ability to moderate the politicians worst excesses. I remember back to a school friend who is married to one of the 'future fund' trustees. She was surprised by the macroeconomic illiteracy of the trustees.

We're lucky we can dig shit out of the ground because, although it might be robust, it ranks way down the economic complexity index.

We're second last out of all the OECD countries.

Ok that's a pretty rudimentary way of looking at it I suppose but I think it's far more nuanced than that.

There's certainly been an element of radicalisation going on and the travel of young often underage women to "ISIS" (ABC News terminology) territory involves a complex mix of psychological and emotional manipulation, online grooming, and ideological pull factors.

It's not just about "making your bed and lying on it..."

I actually feel extremely sorry for these young girls and women who have been radicalised, perhaps within the world of online platforms.and other social and cultural circles.

Not sure a country has the right to make a citizen child stateless because of the actions of the parents. Especially if the primary parent, which in many cases here, is the mother was coerced and radicalised when she was a child ornjust into adulthood herself.

Where are the human rights lawyers?

We are obligated under law.

Also, it's not the kid's fault.
 
If the kid's are born there, then they can stay there.

if the kids were taken by the parents from Aus, and the kids want to return here. We have to do it - if they can prove they are citizens.
