Capitalism when it's gone off the rails.

Someone's lying.

Competitors will just use this to take customers away. Others suggest tricking the AI by researching other destinations then directly booking the place you really want to go throwing the AI off.

Who knows what's true about browser cookies or Indian vpns apparently giving lower fares.

Something similar happens on booking.com

I’ve searched in English, then changed the language and vpn and gotten cheaper prices

I wonder how long before Amazon launches it's Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh grocery store chains in Australia? With their dynamic pricing and their default tipping?

And signing you up for Amazon Prime even if you don't want it....

I never ever thought about uber seeing my phone was on low battery...

BTW I've noticed traditional cab fares are now almost in line with rideshare. I got an uber from the Brisbane Jazz Club at Kangeroo Point to my house just before Christmas and it was $74.

Last.week I did the same journey in a Yellow Cab and it was $80.

Anyways regardless if price I nearly always get a cab just out of principle.

Did you watch the whole thing? The pricks monitor uber driver income and adjust their cut based on what they think they'll accept.

What a disgrace.

Yep. Needs more regulation from the authorities and people who use it should educate themselves on how they take advantage of the drivers, many of who are at the bottom rung of the employment ladder.

No good going on a demo about this, that and the other and how farked up capitalistism is then jumping in an uber to go home...

Or in the case of the quintessential Gen Z hipster-protester the parents home....

I always tip the driver no matter what. They're supposed to get 100 % of the tips. I heard uber takes roughly a third of all the ride share fees. Just imagine how many uber trips are getting made a day and they're getting a cut from every single one. They must be raking it in.

As for taxis. Can't stand the rip off pricks.

A quick search....

How many people drive for Uber?

In 2024, Uber had over eight million drivers worldwide

How many trips per day are completed by Uber?

In 2024, Uber completed on average 30.3 million trips per day

This shit needs to be banned ASAP.

Interesting to see digital price tags that were from German lidl. They like to regulate the hell out of things but it's so overregulated that the prices surges aren't noticed due to a lack of or hyper focus on other areas. They're definitely nudging prices up.

What happens is a very murky situation that even investigative journalists struggle to clarify.

I was thinking about it today seeing all the delivery riders go by. These digital services moved so fast that legal departments said they're in the clear as governments were simply playing catch up on getting rules in place.

Any other typical job has rules to be followed but the environment around these digitals jobs lets a lot of the standers provisions for workers get skipped and parallel systems develop.

Taxis I've always wondered about. I know there are a set of cabs with an owner but aren't they all on a higher regulator where any challenge of a very dodgy fare should be dealt with?

Supermarkets bullshitting, shocker. All of the pricks showed their true colours during covid.
no doubt covid set the gauntlet.
I have no idea who here works for or industries involved.
As for me small owner biz Importing and supplying some majors in my game.
The big boys put pressure on more discounts due to higher volume buys - ok volumes were great we agreed having applied pressure on the factories to support us.
Then we copped how about reduced shipping costs considering everyone is suffering and the currency fluctuations.
Fark what next.
In the meantime the Retailers kept their RRP right up there yet saved a motza and doubled their margins.
Have they dropped their prices since getting back to normal ???? ofcourse not because people have been trained accpet and keep spending even though we are meant to be in a living cost crisis.
Then you know what comes next - when you have NIL supplys or fill rate not meeting target - oh the big boys with their systems provide you with a expected lost sales summary over the next 3mths and fine/send you a inv for the lost sales !!!!!!

I hate to think what coles/woolies/Bunnings/myers etc do to suppliers for in my industry I know how one behaves just as dirty and either makes or breaks you when a small supplier.

You've confirmed and seen what the pricks get up and then people have the hide to blame politicians for inflation shooting up during covid. I read somewhere that corporate gouging was responsible for something like 70% of inflation during and post covid. And that's easily verifiable because corporate profits shot up across the board during and after covid.

You can imagine the pricks jamming all the prices up between 5.00pm and 7.00pm when the supermarkets are chockas with people trying to get something on the way home from work once these digital price tags get more ubiquitous.

There's no depth so low that these cunce will stoop to to make money.

I'd love to grab one of these CEOs and straight up ask him are you happy that kids are going hungry because you're making record profits. How the fuck do you sleep at night?

And before you scream 'communist scum' at me sharkboy I'm saying you can still make profits but when is enough enough? Surely at some stage they're going to have to do something. Couples are both working and some have a second job and they still can't get by. FFS.
