The Medical Room - Injury Updates

The injury gives Popovic and excuse but Goodwin still has time and I refuse to give up on him just yet.. If it were Kewell, we'd give him all the chance in the world. We took Leckie injured to miss the entire Asian Cup group stage. Say May 10 as a max, Goodwin has 4 full weeks to work as hard as possible to achieve fitness not to mention he'll seek any type of training session match scenario to boost himself.

Hard to believe it was back on 26Dec2024 that Souttar did his ACL. I think many of us are expecting him to be in our WC squad, but I'm starting to think it's unlikely at this point. 13.5 months out of the game.

Final squad deadline for WC is 01Jun as i understand, less than 4 months away.

I just can't imagine how he gets anywhere near the required level, given he'll surely miss the March window too.

He was superb last WC, but I'm resigned to a defence led by Circati, Burgess and Degenek/Rowles/Trewin this time around.

Souttar’s injury was his Achilles tendon, not his ACL.

I also share the same worries about Souttar BUT let's not forget the big lad has done this before....and played the tournament of his life!!

According to this he had only played two games before the 2022 World Cup!! Definitely not ideal lead up but we'd all be fools to write him off!

Thomas Waddingham was expected to be right to return from injury on Saturday after a long layoff. He wasn't in the squad but it'll be interesting to see if he gets a chance given how badly Bishop has been going (1 goal all season and fans unhappy at his continued selection).

The CommBank #Socceroos can confirm that Lewis Miller (Blackburn Rovers) has ruptured his Achilles and underwent surgery this evening, ruling him out of the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

Miller injured his Achilles in Blackburn’s 3-1 win over QPR last weekend in the English Championship.

We wish you the best in your recovery, Lewis. We’re all thinking of you 💚💛
