The opening ceremony is at 6:00am for those wondering. You can watch it on Stan Sport.

Will try and watch as much as I can as I am going for a run tomorrow morning.

I have the downhill skiing on atm, pretty good to watch.
Nice! Will probs try and turn at least something on tonight.

If there's one sport we suck at but I wish we didn't it's ice hockey. Easy to understand with its similarities to football.

As I said in the other thread, I've been an ice hockey fan for 20+ years.

I got into the AIHL after attending one of the Canada vs USA Ice Hockey Classic games back in 2014.

Nice! I got into it last Winter Olympics lol. Watched the USA beat Slovakia and thought "Hey, this is pretty cool" (other than the fact that America won).

German public broadcaster doing interviews, segments and talking about speculative shit instead of showing lice events. Annoys the hell out of me. Interviews and segments should be for the down time between live action.

From what I've seen, Channel 9 hasn't done it too much over here.

Bit of curling on early. First medal in skiing to come. A lot of sports give you just one race and the skiing here is quite unforgiving with just one run.

Australia with a very good chance in snowboarding at around 6 am Sunday with a stand in due to a withdrawal smashing the practice session with the top score I believe.

Good. Channel 7 back in the day would always go to fucking ice dancing or the more dull events. Does 9now have a mass stream library?

Australians should be shown biathlon. Such a fun event.

I luv the frigging speeds ice delivers !
137+k’s downhill must be such a buzzz and balls !
Aerial omg how they backwards for another launching pad awesome stuff.

Got to say that opening ceremony was brilliant - Italians just ooooze class !
Bocelli - what a singer that was perfectly done.
Tomba legend.
OK fingers crossed our aussies deliver ! Overall though Winter Olympics is dam good viewing.

Channel 7 drove me bonkers with speed skating on every 5 seconds.

Think they got drunk on it after Steve Bradbury's fluke gold medal.

German rail has a rail discount card and a cross promotion is if Germany wins a gold medal, you can travel the next day absolutely free on all high speed services. Incredibly generous for what is a 20€ card for 3 months.

Here's to Germany stuffing up and all the pensioners having their big day trip on the house ruined. Last minute ICE trains from Hannover to Berlin are at least 100 bucks for a 90min journey.

Reminds me of the Simpsons when the Soviet boycott has Krusty burger lose millions in free burgers.

An enjoyable event but variation is key. It's the same with their gymnastics obsession when Australia are hardly in it.

Channel 7 catered to the wealthy audience so elegant and noble events such as ice dancing and gymnastics were shown.

A bit of biathlon and handball would be different. Australia isn't in Fencing but a few rounds would be fine.

It would appear Switzerland will win the first gold in downhill skiing as the remaining skiers are from smaller nations and Ireland. The start list may or may not be ranked or practice time based.

Sweden with a gold and silver in the women's 20km skiathlon. Frida Karlsson with the gold and Ebba Andersson with the silver.

Who the fuck actually watches reality shows like MAFS? So many ads but I personally don't know too many views (even women).

Quite a successful night for Sweden unsurprisingly. Up 4–1 over Italy in the women's ice hockey, beat Italy 9–4 in mixed doubles curling, plus some other stuff in the snow events. Standard for an Arctic country of course.
