Medical Room — Injury Updates

The current injured list for Matildas and A-League Women players, in addition to those who have recently returned from injury is below. Please let me know if I've missed anyone out or got any details incorrect and I'll update the lists accordingly. I've set expected return to play timeframe as unknown where a clear timeframe has not been given by a club, with additional details if needed.

Player/Club/Injury/Return to play timeframe
  • Indiana Dos Santos, Sydney FC, ACL, unknown
  • Mary Fowler, Manchester City, ACL, unknown (close to full fitness)
  • Charli Grant, Tottenham Hotspur, knee injury, start of February (expected return to training)
  • Tameka Yallop, Brisbane Roar, hamstring injury, A-League Women finals (mid-April through May)
  • Grace Kuilamu, Brisbane Roar, ACL, season over
  • Chloe Berryhill, Western Sydney Wanderers, ACL (not confirmed but most likely), season and career over
  • Leah Davidson, Melbourne City, meniscus injury, February-March (out for a month)
Recent returns from injury:
  • Shelby McMahon returned to play Tuesday in Melbourne City's 1-1 ALW matchday 8 catch-up draw with Brisbane Roar.

Holly McNamara forced off in the 82nd minute of Melbourne City's A-League Women matchday 14 game against Perth Glory with injury; hopefully it's nothing too serious and she'll be right for next week.

Any timeline on Dani Butrus?
Danella Butrus should be back for the A-League Women game against Adelaide United this week after going through the mandatory two week stand-down period for concussion per the Football Australia regulations, but she may possibly be rested and subsequently end up making her return to play in their match against Western Sydney Wanderers on February 4th.

Thanks!

Leticia McKenna, Kirsty Fenton and Holly Caspers all forced off with injuries during A-League Women matchday 15 for Melbourne City in their game against Adelaide United and in the Sydney derby respectively. The severity of their injuries and subsequent return to play timeframe is not known yet but hopefully they'll be right for matchday 5 and 9 catch-up games on Wednesday.

OMG MARY PLAYED!!!

Sharn Freier forced off injured with a potentially serious right knee injury in Brisbane Roar's 2-2 A-League Women matchday 15 draw with Central Coast Mariners on Friday. Nothing confirmed yet but there are fears that she has ruptured her ACL again after previously sustaining the same injury in 2021, which would all but rule her out of the Women's Asian Cup.
