Straya Day

I think you will find most people who want to change the date do not disagree with that sentiment.
what I find with "most" people depending sides of the fence on make things over complicated !
Just present/deal with the 1 directive instead of adding many other bits to a already hard basket question.
Resistance to change is the massive human brain barrier - most of us simpletons don't want to have to deal with this and all at once, its hard enough changing something after such a long time habit/a tradition to many in the population and once all these other points of argument come up puts persons back up.
Its really not that hard to comprehend to me coming from the average aussie outlook - there is always 2 or even 3 sides to an argument and respect should apply to alls opinion.

Agreed RIMB - you go with the flow, not be pushed or bullied.
Yer the anthem is a bit ho hum to me as well - I'm no marketing genious or song writer but surely we could have come up with a better flowing more inspiring one but it is what it is - I hazard to guess there will be another "motion" to change to be more inclusive :)

Here's my take LFC.

Would changing the day change your life in any way? I mean at all, in any way?

It's like the gay marriage plebiscite. Would allowing gay marriage affect anyone's lives?

The answer is no in both cases.

So IN MY OPINION seeing it doesn't affect my life in any way, and we should care about others, (being empathetic humans and all), and if that date is upsetting to the original inhabitants AND it materially affects no one then change the date.

Would it shut the whingers up?

Probably not but that's one less thing to hear about every year and to be honest I just want to be able to celebrate the fact we're all Australians and this is, generally speaking, a great place with great people on a day without all the hullaballoo.

as I've said every day is great I really dgaf in the end (times change) but I don't appreciate the approach by some (not here but overall) the guilt etc pushed onto the general good natured public, it works both ways talking about respect, right now besides the massive background issues that I understand I am Australian and right now that day is the day, if it changes I move onwards as majority of the good aussie people do aussies have always cared but its not good poking the bear as they say.

Understood but if you/they don't 'poke the bear' nothing changes.

But fair enough.

how you poke/approach the bear - its not been done very well (many smarts/pollies worse don't know how to express/connect with day to day aussies and labour/albo/wong all are lieing khunts as well) - also baggage is both ways be it differently (I understand the internal feelings as much as I can) towards good caring wonderful aussies.
