FFV - Geelong

A basketball and gymnastics stadium is being planned for this location. Its placement is being debated, with some arguing it should be built in the south, where population growth is strongest, while clubs in the north of Geelong want the facility located there to support their expanding programs. The best locations available are either Hendy Street Reserve in Corio or Central Blvd in Armstrong Creek West.
Armstrong Creek would make sense. It's a 10min walk from Marshall Station though. People won't go to Corio.

I don't think it would be. Corio has a pretty bad reputation.
It's a dodgy suburb but that has no effect on whether people go to a soccer ground or not. It's a far better location for everyone in Melbourne and probably 80% of people in Geelong as the northern suburbs are where soccer is extremely popular and where every strong club in Geelong is based. Surely nobody wants another ground in the middle of nowhere

Whereabouts near Corio would you put a stadium? Inbetween there and Lara? Has to be near rail. Would you think 10,000 is about right? Bit more or less?

Won't be that big without an a-league team committing to it. Soccer is incredibly popular in Geelong but realistically it won't be much bigger than what they did at Morshead Park, despite Ballarat not being a soccer city. If it is somehow 10,000 seats then that means it will be far from Geelong city centre, probably in one of the new estate areas, don't think an a-league team would be interested in that though.
There is no chance it will be within walking distance to a station unfortunately. Ideally it could be, There's a lot of empty land near the rail lines but it's all privately owned and already hard to get from one side to the other, no chance they knock down part of the ford factory or refinery for a bigger stadium. For reference, Stead Park is 1km, if that, from Corio station by distance but its about a 5km walk.
The Corio location would be inside Geelong but on the edge around Plantation road. Every other site i've seen mentioned is west of the ring road or south of grovedale. None of these sites are great

They must've heard us taking about Geelong and Lara 🙃

Always sad to see teams finishing up. AFL too busy splashing the cash in India and the eastern states.
