Travelogue

very nice Ful - easy close travelling from the UK.
Cold though obviously - not my cup to tea but you got to experience it if you can.
A$1M + 2/3bedder and small I imagine -
We enjoyed a Jan winter in Paris few years back with the fam - NYE ate near the Eiffel Tower and started to snow lightly - was a highlight for the young uns.
Stayed in St Germain area, really cool area and luv walking the streets late and feasting on the street crepes etc.

I think the sensible option would be rent an AirBnB for 6 months before looking at actually purchasing a property.

The heritage style apartments in Lyon seem quite spacious and by all accounts offer good bang for your buck. Ive watched all those 'Escape to the Chateau' shows on Foxtel and they're great but I'm definitely not a country bumkin....

I've always been a big Francophile and always wanted to properly live there for a time. Luckily I'm in a position where it's probably quite doable....

One or two sticky items to overcome.

Anyone flown Wamos Air? More specifically their business class?

biz class you should be ok - cattle is woeful I'm told.
Good luck - I'm always happy to pay more for peace of mind even when in cattle.

yep, rent for a feel of the place and go from there.......
Yer I watch all those Fox shows, buy/sell - the pom ones make me lol, the French chateau one sometime back - I admire the vision but ffs to fix one up omg what a job and money.
I have hopes when the dominos fall in place buying a apartment in Recco where my Mum came from OR we end up buying one where the wife's fam originally come from Madeira.
Our vision is to live 4odd mths abroad/ABnB it when empty and come back to Oz.
By the way Fil, its not "luck" as far as I'm concerned we have "earned" it from hard work and living to our means.

Back from 2 weeks in Taiwan. Fantastic. Would recommend.

Next stop South Korea in their spring.

Reading reviews and they look a bit dicey on quality. But I want a flight in south america direct and they only direct option. Everyone seems to say they're a bit old and service sucks even in business.

I read that Air NZ, LATAM and etihad sub lease through them but dont know anyone who has used them personally

I hear you re trying to find more direct routes - my goal always hence having used qantarse for alot of my asian/usa travels - my Chile trips ex Sydney have used LATAM a few times (qantarse partner) and domestically there and onto USA.
I have no worries flying LATAM.
I'd be suss and avoid Wamos if I could.

hope your flight doesn't run out of fuel :)
Do we know where you've been before ?
Work or pleasure these trips ?
I’ve been to like 20 countries around the world but this is the first time I’ve been back to Southeast Asia since 2024 (when I went to Thailand for the third time). All for holidays!

The plane’ll be fine but you do raise a great point. The fuel crisis is a very serious issue in SEA. The entire region is rapidly running out of petrol, especially the further north you go. A tour guide told us that people in Thailand are walking everywhere because of the price and limited supply of diesel.

well not that long since last time at SEA lol nothing changed much thats for sure.
Yep flight costs increasing and schedules getting pulled back.

Can imagine many suffering there more than here re diesel price rise's for all on average to low income salaries.
Tourism gonna hurt and the poor who survive on the street for income.

I'm heading to KL May onto to China work work but always some leisure time in between.
Golf haha for me.
Fam Japan trip locked in for July - in between and post many other biz trips extended small holiday take the wife.

Nice! It’s pretty good! I’d like to go over to Borneo next time though.

there's not many places I haven't enjoyed - as my wife says its always a adventure.......
Borneo haven't been but haven't seen any place around water/forests etc as terrible.
Always picturesque - just depends where you stay and frequent - I tend to like avoiding the full on touristi spots get reliable guidance for the more authentic areas.

Japan unavoidable for July gonna be stinking warm though shall be fun regardless.

Yeah same here. I wanna go see the wildlife (orangutans, tapirs, etc) and Indigenous culture, plus go to a nice beachy town. Sarawak (the state on the southern part of East Malaysia, the part of Malaysia on Borneo) is a very interesting state as it’s the only Malaysian state that’s majority Christian due to the fact that it’s majority non-Malay Indigenous (in Malaysia, Malays are legally defined as Muslim as part of highly controversial racial laws that privilege Malays, e.g Bumiputera and the fact that all road signs are only in Malay).
