Neither really. I doubt an A-League club would be turned into any sort of ethnic club unless we get pro/rel. It would defeat the purpose of having the A-League which was created to stop the NSL era racism and violence that plagued the game and gave it a "wogball" image.
As for the prejudice part, I think his concern's were more about the ethnic violence and stuff rather than the specific nationality (in this case Greek). I personally think the ethnic clubs have some awesome culture and the food stalls cook up some great food, overall the ethnic theme is quite cool, but I don't like the racism or ethnic tensions that come along with it.
On Reddit the opinion seems to be that Championship/NPL clubs (especially the big Croatian clubs like Melbourne Knights and Sydney United due to their Ustaše supporter groups) have a bunch of racist right-wing Ethnic fans who ruin the image of Aussie soccer. In reality it's a minority of fans that cause fights or are racist, but that's still a big problem (especially since they're loud and have big groups on Facebook, the boomers' favourite site).
you people (a good %) really read the script put out there And follow the rest of your fellow brain washed sheep on forums about ethnics and worse mentioning boomers.
Seriously sad got to say.
Most if not all of the trouble makers in football crowds are young/er gens for starters, NPL and AL.
We've seen enough evidence over the AL years, MV SFC and worst WSW please turn it up.
They have behaved just as wrongly in the modern times after all the education about crowd behaviour that has been put out the last 15yrs re sport participation and behaviour.
WSW when we used to go to parra stadium was frigging ugly, you watched your back just going back to your car.
The SFC/MV behaviour back to central station - whats the diff, thuggery is thuggery (yes stabbings also).
The walkover bridge at Moore park another one came to mind.
So nothing to do about racism above just sheer out and out blatant thuggery - dumb is dumber.
Bucket boy etcetc - tell us where your crowds have gone and how the APL is looked upon by the general aussie today after the countless incidents occurred by the save the world of football franchise system and clubs struggling to stay afloat running on 500K budgets to date.
Is it proven so many boomers live in FB ? oh hang lets just bring up specific ethnic croation ones, talk about racism.
What about your own gen groups, you people live by your mobiles on how many different mediums, can imagine how hot it was in SM on the countless violent outbreaks mentioned above.
By the way it still would be considered "wogball" to many many aussies out there because it bloody well IS and proud of it
I wouldn't bring your reddit outlook here for its blantantly obvious the closed mindedness with the many expert numb nuts in there are also holding back the game with their attitude about the larger section of the game below for guess what ? the game here can't survive on 12 friggin APL clubs living on peanuts let alone lack of teams playing at every level of the eco system..
Deadset I shake my head whats going on in this country and not surprised we're up a creek without a paddle.
