FWIW, I would suggest it’s crucial for any semblance of a curriculum prior to ages 8-10(as I think Mono alluded to earlier) to emphasise developing as high a level of technical-ability w/the feet as possible(this includes strengthening a player’s weak-foot too), and the continued use of small-sided games until graduating to full 11v11.

Upon say, reaching 11yo then I suppose an individual player’s development can probably become a little more laissez-faire and not so slavishly-beholden to a single particular methodology..maybe - or not?

I could be totally wrong either way, but from the outside looking in that’s the vibe I get about it all.
I don't think the technical aspects of a player's development varies much between countries, although the Brazilians probably pursue more flashy techniques. You are on the right track there, BA81.

It is the style of play, structure of teams, game based analysis proformas, training ground practice where approaches vary.

“Too long, didn’t read”

Yeah, I remember that cloud-folder someone linked to on the Performance section of the prev. forum back in 2011; it was a proper treasure-trove of drills/instructions, no doubt..until the entire cloud got wiped😔

I can only hope that copies of every single piece of material on there were disseminated to as many clubs around the country before then🙏🏼 Even just spam-emailing them would’ve been the prudent thing to do..!
There was a guy called R Brown who had a lot of useful training ground practices set out diagrammatically from the academies of Chelsea, Ajax/KNVB, Arsenal, Man U, PSV Eindhoven, Corinthians, etc.

They were brilliant! Gee, I used them a lot - and passed them on to heaps of NPL coaches.

Somebody posted them onto the forum.

Not at all.. Having opposing views on something is a part of life however respect is earned NOT expected.. You and I have vastly disparate views on football in many respects yet I value your opinion as I hope, in some instances, you can accept mine..

This garbage attempt by some to gatekeep who can and cannot comment on football issues has to stop. I can see why certain posters despise him with a passion.. I don't. I just pity the narcissism.
I'm sorry if you perceive it has been suggested you should be precluded from posting in general on G and G, Mono. Didn't think you took things so seriously, or you were a such a sensitive soul.

I've probably seen a 1000 posts from you on G and G. If 1 or 2 posts mock the NC, the KNVB, and the tenets for the NC, expect to be called out. You've repudiated the NC it its entirety, and current Aus football methodology, when you don't appear to have a grasp of what it is that you are repudiating.

You might have noted, that other posters may appear to be far more circumspect in excoriating something they don't have a grasp of.

When it comes to the vast majority of your posts/participation on G and G I like most of them, or agree with most of what you write.

Politics - love most of what you post. You extol progressive political views.

Forum wrecking recidivist cyberbullies - you unequivocally are G and G's best poster at putting them in their place when they were trolling on here gratuitously. We are very lucky to have you!

Fan View - we need you to write more FV articles. You are a talented writer, who should pursue writing publicly.

Bookreading thread - you write some profound comments.

Humour - you make me laugh a lot!

The offer of shouting you a beer one day is still there!

I wish I could return the sentiment..... or even begin to decipher the palaver sometimes.

I'm not sure if it is limited to just 12 per year but it is harder to get into. You have to apply and be selected into the course. The cost is around $12 500. I've looked into it. The NPL Head Coach that I'm working with has a Pro License so it is possible to get it at that level. I just need to be patient.
Danny claimed the Pro Licence was limited to 12 per year.

Great episode @grazorblade ... Interesting to to hear Stratis comments around other clubs being enthusiastic about the opportunities this tournament will bring them... and hopefully us.

Paul is a bit of a celebrity at Lakeside and I have had the very same chat you had with him around the prospect of South being an Aleague or NSD club... I agree with him that, whilst it MAY be on the cards for an investor to come along and "use" our club as a brand to buy into the Aleague that entity will no longer be the club we all love and follow... Sure many will follow but also many will not.... NSD with full pro/rell down to State leaguyes is the way forward... by hook or by crook... in a few generations time when/if that proves successful THEN we can look at linking the razzle dazzle Aleague to the rest of Australia :)
Well said, Mono.

I enjoyed the Stratis interview, with Grazor asking some quality questions.

I was particularly pleased to hear 2 things.

1. A player who has gone through the South Melbourne syatem and ended up getting a pro contract in Thailand.

2. Love his passion for players going all the way through a South M coaching pathway, starting at junior level with the possibility of playing in the OFC.

Before my back gave way, I was keen to put this into place as a NPL Tech Dir. Too many local NPL clubs poach players from season to season, and don't put enough effort into developing their own.

For a laugh!

Political comments, humour, writing talent, post count for G and G, spectator and club passion, negating recidivist trolls and forum destroyers, literary comments, I'd give Mono 8 out of 10.

Humility, pontificating about the NC/KNVB, tact, nerdism, derailing threads, initiating pile ons - the less said, the better!

What do you reckon, MCG?

Shame to hear Paul M say on the Pod that SM fans will struggle to attend overseas games. Moreover, that PM thinks there will only be 3 OFC games played at home.

Are the OFC games that South play available to view on TV or a streaming service like they were on SBS?

I don't think I've heard of it, FL?

Thanks, LFC.

This simple sign in, will be quite complex for my limited IT technological brain!
