OFC Professional League 🌏

Anyone know why New Cal didn't get a team?
Nobody applied. The application and selection process occurred when NC was going through quite a bit of turmoil/unrest (over the voting reforms) and hence the football federation was withdrawing teams from international competitions. One of my biggest gripes with the closed shop qualification (for CWC and no real clarity on pro-league expansion) considering they're probably the second, and if not the third, strongest federation in OFC.

Oh yeah that's true. Maybe next season they'll expand since things are well and truly calmed down now. And yeah they're definitely one of the stronger OFC sides.

First match - teams were quick but technically not the best.

The Kiwi derby so far is a decent standard.

You’d assume the two New Zealand teams would be in the top 3. I think we’ll get a better view of the teams after the first round of fixtures.
better or worse than npl vic?

which raises the question...whats the standard of the ofc champions league :D
Depends on the team. New Zealand teams heavily dominate it. The only non-Australian/NZ winners have been Hekari United from Port Moresby and Hieghène Sport from a small town in the North Province of New Cal.

Individually the Super Ligue is worse than the top of the NPL but it's one of the best leagues in the OFC. We shouldn't underestimate Pacific players though, the NPL should send some scouts there.
