Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

South Melbourne star and South Sudanese international Manny Aguek signs for Nakhon Ratchasima in the Thai League 1. Maybe he can save them from relegation.

Devlin is a tough little customer and is a midfield destroyer .He tackles hard and harasses attackers into passes which often are mistimed or go astray.I have only seen snippets of his games so cannot judge whether his passing has improved.Jedinak was also a midfield destroyer who had limited passing ability but his advantage over Devlin was his aerial ability due to his height.Devlin could work well with Irvine,Balard,Robertson,O'Neill or Hrustic who are better passers-he would do the dirty work giving them more time on the ball.Yazbek ,Baccus and to a certain extent Metcalfe could also play a similar role.

Perhaps in March we should try a midfield 3 of Devlin, O'Neill and Irvine. Popovic is going to persist with the latter two but for parts of games we can suffocate and opponent playing out from the back.

O'Neill has a slightly creative outlet and is standard in all other departments. He's really become complacent.

Devlin has always striked me as someone who is very limited. I can't see him improving us very much or at all.
Im skeptical too, but he wouldnt be the first aussie to improve after many years in Europe

I think poppa tho has his cms spending a lot of time deep and devlins aerial defense is still quite weak. He is also weak against good dribblers, but he doesnt face them a lot in the spfl, so him defending deep against skillful dribbling and precise aerial crossing against paraguay would be dangerous

If played in a proactive 433 then he would be the sort of player that allows his other mids to be creative. He makes an incredible 4.5 tackles and 2.6 intercepts a game which is roughly what jedi managed in turkey before his career exploded in his early thirties

It's true but I always preferred Sainsbury and Spiranovic and had hoped others would develop. Miles ahead of the silly Cornthwaite experiment by Holger.
Sainsbiry became a big dissapointment for me. Seemed to play it cool, but switched off and effed up way too often which may have contributed to his lack of game time in Serie A.

Apologies to those offended by my frank language, but I seriously believe that with a better mind set he could have had a better career.

You overlooked Jedinak's prowess with the spot kick. Legenday for the Socceroos.
