Summer of Cricket thread

This is good to hear.

Richie identified another young NSW opener, Ryan Kindrell?, in the NSW second eleven too. Looked good live. Only 20 years old.

I’m going to try and put the wheels in motion to recruit him for the Apple Isle. It is probably already happening.
Do Tasmania produce its own talent or just nick players from NSW?

If one looks at Usman over a few years he is mediocre.

Average 38 this year. Liability in the field.

He was incredible for a sustained period when he was selected after being dropped and overlooked for a few years.

At some stage the selectors have to clear out some 35 plus players.
38 is pretty good right now mind u

We dont have a lot of shield players with career averages over 40 and i tend to think career averages are more predictive than season averages

Yes. DC will give you a list of formers from my state that made their careers in Tassie. But before I go too far, there is a crop of talented cricketers that has come thru their Pathways, so all home grown. Pencil in these names; Aidan O'Connor, Louis Smith, Zac Curtain, Thomas Dwyer (Pontings nephew), Mason Wright, Hayden Clark-Sullivan, Blake Garrett, Luke Quinlan. Raf MacMillan is one of ours.

I thought Jacks and Smith would wilt under scoreboard pressure.

They are putting together a partnership. Fair play to them!

That figure is inflated by a double hundred on a Galle featherbed. His home record before this series was in the mid 20s, while he also had a shocker of a West Indies tour.

Has Lyon torn his hammy.
Hopefully Nathan Lyon isn't hamstrung and ruled out of the remainder of the Ashes series because it would be a massive loss for us, but if he is injured then you would assume Murphy gets the callup to bowl for the Boxing Day Test.

You'd have to think with his record of polishing off late order bats, that Starc will do it here. But since Brissie he has been mediocre, apart from that snorter to Stokes.

Smith was starting to look dangerous until his brain fade. You Poms will never learn will you Jamie.
