Welcome back to Matildas Abroad, where I analyse the performances of all our Aussies playing overseas!
Sweden (Damallsvenskan & Elitettan) — Rosengård remain in the relegation zone, Linköping go top of the table in a tight Elitettan promotion race

To kick off the week, Malmö defeated Djurgården 1–0 on the road, with Courtney Nevin playing the entirety of the match and Amy Sayer coming on as a sub in a result that kept the Blåe's European hopes alive by pushing them up to third place after AIK lost 4–1 away to current league leaders, Svenska Cupen winners and continental double runners-up Hammarby. Meanwhile, Daniela Galić played the entirety of Vittsjö's 2–1 away win over Brommapojkarna, which saw Vittsjö stay in eighth.

In an Aussie derby, Rosengård lost 2–0 to double winners and title challengers Häcken, with both Häcken's Aivi Luik and Rosengård's Remy Siemsen playing the entirety of the match for their respective sides. While they came in as major underdogs, it adds insult to injury for Rosengård, who're still 13th and in a direct relegation spot. Should they go down, it'll be the first time they've ever been relegated and their worst ever season in their otherwise highly successful 56-year history.

In the Elitettan, Polly Doran started and received a yellow card (her second booking of the season) before coming off in Linköping's huge 4–0 win over Alingsås, thrashing them in a contest between the two relegated teams from last season's Damallsvenskan. LFC are now top of the table for the first time, leading Elfsborg by two points after their 1–1 draw away with Husqvarna (their second draw in a row). Both sides remain undefeated in the league so far.
Other leagues — Johnson scores as Calgary Wild finally get a second point

In America's USL W League, Real Colorado were again without Bella Chidiac for a humongous 13–0 win at home over CISA and a huge 6–0 win at home over Flatirons FC. Real sit top of the Mountain Division by three points after eight matchdays.

In Canada's NSL, both teams with Aussie players played out 1–1 draws on the road. Vancouver Rise settled for a point with Halifax Tides, with Tori Tumeth playing the entire match. Meanwhile, Calgary Wild (who remain winless this season) secured just their second point of the season by drawing with title challengers Montréal Roses, with Kahli Johnson scoring in the 10th minute to put the Wild in front before conceding an equaliser in the 29th minute. Neither the Rise nor the Wild changed positions on the table, with the former remaining fourth and the latter sixth and last. The Wild are still seven points behind fifth and second last-placed AFC Toronto, who also drew 1–1 away to Ottawa Rapids.

In Norway, Vålerenga had a week to forget, suffering two losses in their three matches. In the NM Cup, Bohemene suffered a 2–1 loss to Aalesund, knocking them out in the quarter-finals of Norway's domestic cup competition. In the Toppserien, Enga lost 3–2 away to Rosenborg, their fifth loss of the season 12 games in. So far, Vålerenga sit fourth (their worst position since 2021) and are currently on track for their worst season since 2018 (when they finished sixth). It's also not looking good for Hana Lowry, who's failed to play many minutes at the Norwegian giants. She started before coming off in the 65th and 50th minutes of those matches, respectively.
Transfer Talk — Kerr linked with return to Gotham FC, Gómez and Los make European moves

To kick off this week's Transfer Talk we've got a huge rumour to cover, as Matildas captain Sam Kerr, one of the greatest players of all time, has been linked with a return to Gotham FC in the NWSL after she said goodbye to Chelsea and the WSL after six years of service for the Blues, in which she won five league titles and secured two Golden Boots. She previously spent time at the club back when they were known as Sky Blue FC, as well as at Western New York Flash and Chicago Red Starts. The Athletic is reporting that she has agreed to return to the New Jersey-based club, which represents the broader Greater New York metropolitan area (also known as the Tri-State). She remains the NWSL's all-time leading goalscorer, and will almost certainly add to that tally upon her anticipated return to the US.

We've also got two other transfers to cover in this edition. Starting off with a very unknown face, Cece Los (full name: Cornelia Los) has officially joined Twente in the Vrouwen Eredivisie from Melbourne City's NPLW side. Despite her young age and low profile, some consistent minutes in the Netherlands could secure her some caps for our youth teams. She's not the first City player to join the club, with wonderkid Daniela Galić also briefly spending time at the Enschede-based club before her very successful move to Vittsjö for more game time.

The next transfer news will excite hopefully everyone viewing this as much as it excited me, as Central Coast Mariners star and 2025–26 Julie Dolan Medalist Izzy Gómez has officially signed for Damallsvenskan giants Rosengård, joining Remy Siemsen at a club with rich Aussie history and a wealth of historic success, despite their poor performances in the past two seasons. An attacking midfielder, she's considered one of the next generation Matildas and has deservedly secured a great move for her great performances for the Mariners. She'll have a big task ahead though, as Rosengård are currently battling relegation and have seen a significant drop since they last won the league in 2023.
