Every word of Alen Stajcic's epic post-Derby speech that's got Australian football talking
After claiming a 1-0 win in the Sydney Derby, Western Sydney Wanderers boss Alen Stajcic delivered an epic press conference speech on the state of Australian football. Here’s every word he said.football360.com.au
I'm so sick of the infighting and negativity. It only serves everyone else but football or those with vested interests. Time to mend bridges. Time to promote the good in the game.
How, but shutting everyone you dont like out of it? THATS what AFL and NRL do, and its working for them....I love this so much from Stajcic:

I mean we know that's a mistake. I'd like to bring everyone back together. I think we need to mend relationships and work towards pro-rel. Inspite of the APL, State Feds etc. if need be.How, but shutting everyone you dont like out of it? THATS what AFL and NRL do, and its working for them....
Mate I guess, in a way, thats what "spaces" like this are...I mean we know that's a mistake. I'd like to bring everyone back together. I think we need to mend relationships and work towards pro-rel. Inspite of the APL, State Feds etc. if need be.
Thanks for putting it up, Q.I love this so much from Stajcic:

well Quicky, Middy makes mention many a time about the word "respect".I mean we know that's a mistake. I'd like to bring everyone back together. I think we need to mend relationships and work towards pro-rel. Inspite of the APL, State Feds etc. if need be.
I think his input might be a bit misunderstood. If it weren't for his immediate austerity measures then I reckon the league might've collapsed by now. He probably comes across as the bad guy for that, but at least there doesn't seem to be BS from him like Townsend. Just my impression of him, I think he's halted and hopefully reversed the kamikaze downtrend.Piss off Conroy and bring in someone with passion![]()
Ok interesting. Do you have any specific examples of what he did to steady the ship?I think his input might be a bit misunderstood. He's definitely not the front man or media spokesperson type, we need someone else for that because it's seriously lacking.
We will get respect in the greater Australia sporting scene when, and only when, we either host the Mens World Cup or we go very deep into the tournament - top 4. Until then we will just be a minor sport at the top level but the largest sport at the grass roots.well Quicky, Middy makes mention many a time about the word "respect".
As we know there is alot more in between but that word for one is a big one.
Put my hand up I'm guilty not giving AL respect for the main game we live and breath locally was cast aside and lets face it treated like a POS and worse been poisoned impregnated into the following gens who hardly had any idea or clue.
Then thereis the belittling about lack of crowds because thats the main directive of a franchise business is numbers.
Thats not football when your looking to grow support eh.
I'm all with you about improving our game top to bottom but were in a bermuda triangle kind of situation.
Its great to see these guys bringing up the elephants in the room to a degree.
I think you hit on the most important thing. Respect is required. There's too little of it.well Quicky, Middy makes mention many a time about the word "respect".

Stefan?Stefan suggested fan protests and organizing. Is it possible to organize via the forum?
soccernomics guest on the pod. Have trouble spelling his last name without googlingStefan?
That was a great pod! Really interesting. Been meaning to post in the pod thread about it. I thought it was really well done calling out the AL board member after he criticised economists. Those comments didn't sit well with me either, sort of flippant. I thought his response to being challenged was good to his credit.soccernomics guest on the pod.
