PFA Unveils Player-Voted A-League Men Team of the Second Decade

Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) has tonight revealed the A-League Men Team of the Second Decade, as voted by the players, at a gala event at The Glasshouse in Melbourne.

The announcement was made before a packed audience of current and former A-League players, coaches, sponsors, fans, and administrators, celebrating a line-up of players who represent ten years of excellence and influence in the domestic game.

Chosen exclusively by PFA members — past and present A-League Men players — the team was selected in a 4-3-3 formation, comprising a starting XI, seven substitutes, a coach, and a referee.

To be eligible, players must have featured in at least two A-League Men’s seasons between 2015 and 2025.

Starting XI
  • Goalkeeper: Danny Vukovic
  • Defenders: Scott Jamieson, Curtis Good, Alex Wilkinson (Captain), Rhyan Grant
  • Midfielders: Luke Brattan, Diego Castro, Miloš Ninković
  • Forwards: Craig Goodwin, Jamie Maclaren, Kosta Barbarouses

Substitutes
  • Jamie Young (GK), Nikolai Topor-Stanley, Aziz Behich, Anthony Caceres, Isaías, Bruno Fornaroli, Besart Berisha
Coach: Steve Corica
Referee: Alex King

Corica for starters !
Agree. Not that he is a bad coach. He obviously got good results. For me it has to be a coach that went on to bigger and better things. Arnie went on to coach the NT. Popa went on to coach the NT. Muscat to Yokohama. Monty went onto Hibs. Corica got sacked and did nothing until Auckland came around.

Coach - No way Corica, either Arnie, Muscat or maybe even Popa.

On field -

1. Isaias in for Bratten
2. Behich in for Jamieson
3. Lolley in for Barbarouses

Would have that Victory defender in over Topor Stanley, name escapes me, Delpierre or something like that?

Would consider Jason Davidson over Jamieson.

Lets see what Corrie backs up this season on the side......
Though no way would I select him for a Team of the 2nd decade.
Rode off Arnie's back - he couldn't lose what he inherited unless he was a mug and that he is not but it all showed as time went by he didn't cut it with one of the biggest clubs here.

The mention of Isais is a very good thought But I do like the defensive character and vision Bratton brought in his SFC prime in front of the backs. Very reliable and also could play some great attacking diagonal balls.
Yep Behich instead of Jamieson is a good call.
Lolley is over rated imo - because SFC lack a punchy 9 he's been their go to, he over cooks it many a times I think Barba out ranks him going forward and finish's - he's got a better avg I would suspect without checking.
Is Grant really the favoured RB ? Strain ?

How else do you measure success?
In the context of football, being so good at your job that a bigger a better club in a bigger and better league hires you for significantly more money.
Like I said, he's not a bad coach. I just feel there are better options within that 2015-2025 era. To be honest, if I was making a list of candidates, Corica barely makes the conversation.
