As we know, it’s a time-honoured feature of int. cricket & rugby..and apparently of ️ in decades past too.

The actual logistics of setting it up aside, is there merit to bringing this back? Arnie himself once flagged the idea(one of his few good ones, IMO) of reviving it:

That's all I could think of too - is using "Australia A" (which by the sounds of it could pretty much be just an 'A-League All Stars' team anyways, minus the imports) once a year, or twice a year perhaps if they come on their start of pre-season tours, be sufficient?

If you're not NT standard by 23, or you aren't putting yourself into solid consideration anyways, is it really necessary to have somewhat of a trial squad?

I miss the pre seasons of yesteryear where Indo/Malay/Singapore teams would come to Perth. I distinctly remember an NSL preseason where Sarawak came down!
