Imagine trying to build this up as a "dangerous" match. Storm in a teacup, and it's no wonder most fans in Adelaide prefer to watch United in the A League. Albanian clubs long history of misbhaviour in SASL will not have won them many fans.

    Australian news and politics.

The belt of small towns just south of Leeds- Wakefield, Castleford, Featherstone etc- are hotspots of rugby league too. Leeds United, who replaced Leeds City in 1920, took a long time to get going as a soccer club. In fact won zilch until Revie took over in the 1960s. (But why is this in...

"Can you smell the fear?", do the other football codes in Australia (AFL,NRL), genuinely fear football?

So how do you explain the large amount of CTE and dementia suffered by British footballers who played in the 60s and 70s? Almost the entire England world cup team of 1966 (all dead now except Geoff Hurst) had these problems. Jeff Astle would head the ball hundreds of times in training as well...

A shame- I had a lot of contact with Alan; he first drew my attention to the fact that quite a few of the league tables in The History of Soccer in South Australia book are incorrect.

Socceroos vs Egypt - 2026 World Cup R32 - Sat 4th of July 4am AEST

There are not many EPL players in the Egyptian side; most are home based. Egypt are not a major soccer power, so we should beat them. Having said that, I can't see where our goals are coming from. None in the last two games. We have no established centre forward, and Irankunda is not being used...

Lots of people on overseas forums and X saying that Australia-Paraguay was the most boring game of the world cup, and that it was probably fixed to be a draw! Thoughts?

When Ivan was (briefly) at Adelaide City, he did a questionaire in a match program. In answer to the question "what advice would you give young players?" he replied "don't listen to advice, just do your own thing"!

Irankuda wasted in the centre forward position. He did manage to knock a Paraguayan defender into the middle of next week, though.
