The hill I'll needlessly die on, is that if AFL clubs saw soccer transfers out as a way to generate income, there could actually be a great win-win we could all reach.

Yeah I'm not sure - a lot of Vic clubs outside of State League have the option to go in or not. Some do, but a hell of a lot don't. Agree it would be good to get more in.

I guess it's partially because it starts so early in the year. Most regional leagues (in Victoria at least) start when the metro leagues start. That's a good month after State League, and a good two months after the first cup games. Getting that many registered players by then is near impossible.
