I've been a Volpato fanboy but on the strength of that I have pretty much given up 🤷

Hope he proves me wrong.
 
Two Japanese players with Australian connections: Cailen Hill, whose dad is Australian, is 3rd choice at Sanfrecce Hiroshima and has 1 Japan U18 cap. I think Ko Miyazaki, whose mum is Australian and plays for Vegalta Sendai in J2, has been mentioned in this thread. He’s good enough for the A-League or even J1.

Cailen Hill is 23 while Ko Miyazaki is 26. While I love keeping track of all Aussies playing abroad even if they can't make the Socceroos squad, I doubt they'll be in the Socceroos squad.

yep, aligns with his actions. Clearly his preference is to play for Italy but may choose Oz if this doesn’t happen.

One revelation from this all is that despite the tough talk from Poppa about only choosing players who want to play for Oz. It’s interesting that Volpato got a call recently from Okon about his interest in playing for us. Clearly feelers are being put out there to dual internationals.

Maybe the feelers are to help judge if the player is actually committed or not.
