Matildas friendlies in November/December 2025

https://matildas.com.au/news/commbank-matildas-confirm-squad-new-zealand-two-match-series

The 24-player Matildas squad for the November/December international window and our last friendlies of season 2025 against New Zealand has been named. Tameka Yallop makes her return to the squad from injury, and Kahli Johnson earns a recall for the first time since the May/June games against Argentina. Sam Kerr will be playing on home soil for the first time in two years, and Chloe Lincoln returns to the keeper union along with Mackenzie Arnold and Teagan Micah.

No Charlize Rule or Jess Nash? Presumably Daniela Galić is injured as she wasn't in Vittsjö's squad on the weekend either.

Surprised that Jessika Nash hasn't made the last two Matildas squads given her good form but it's likely that Charlize Rule is being relegated to just being on the periphery as Montemurro is going for the same players again which doesn't really bode well for us depth-wise with it being 100 days to go until the Women's Asian Cup this week.

Surely he gives her at least one call, right? Another Alanna Kennedy red card and it would be over for her right?

As for Jess Nash she's starting every game at Sassuolo and has been their best defender so far this season. Sassuolo are second last but they've been very inconsistent: drew with Juventus (the reigning double winners and this season's league cup winners) and then lost to Parma (a newly-promoted side), then drew with Inter (the reigning runners-up in the league) and lost to Ternana (another newly-promoted side).

Not sure why Alanna Kennedy is getting picked over Jessika Nash despite being on the bench for most matchdays in club football but obviously experience and the tried-and-tested squad selection are being prioritised over selecting fringe players.

The Junior Matildas will be playing against Thailand's under-16 side in a curtain-raiser before the Matildas' first game against New Zealand in Gosford as part of the inaugural ASEAN-Australia Women's Football Week, the second of two matches between the two sides.
Wait I have tickets to the Matildas game, does that mean the Junior Matildas game will be included in that?

Charli Grant has been medically withdrawn from the Matildas squad for the November/December international window by Spurs after sustaining a knee injury during training, and will be replaced by Charlize Rule, whose recall marks her first time with the squad since making her debut in December 2023.

As the resident Charli Grant fan here I'm sad that she's been ruled out. Especially with such a serious injury in training, like a knee injury isn't something to be taken lightly. I'm just wondering how she did it, since she's barely played so the chances of her being injured in training were already less. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

On a side note I'm happy that Charlize Rule has been called up again and isn't being ignored anymore. She truely deserves a spot in the Asian Cup squad; she starts every game for Brighton and (almost) always tries her best.

The Matildas starting XI for the first game against New Zealand in Gosford has been named. Mackenzie Arnold starts between the sticks and Steph Catley assumes the captaincy in place of Sam Kerr, who is on the bench.

The Junior Matildas currently lead Thailand U17 1–0 at half time! The match is also being held at Polytec Stadium in Gosford (and I'm here)!
The curtain-raiser between the Junior Matildas and Thailand ended in a 1-1 draw after Nattatida Tirapalika scored a late equaliser in the 86th minute, meaning that the Junior Matildas end the year winless in their last series of season 2025 after losing 2-0 earlier in the week to the same opposition.

EvE over Wheels is ridiculous. If we lose the Asian Cup and Pepe does this he's as big of a fraud as TG.

Totally agree, Emily van Egmond should not be in the starting XI for the Matildas especially given that she's already peaked and the Asian Cup is pivotal to our chances of qualifying for the 2027 Women's World Cup.
