Has anyone read the Sydney Olympic media release on Facebook?

'Focusing on youth'???

Here is an excerpt ...

"Dear Members, Supporters, Players, and Parents,

We are writing to you outlining our updated football strategy, which places youth development at its core.

The key strategic direction for SOFC aims to build a sustainable pathway for young players, increasing player retention, and foster both technical and personal growth within our club. This will set the foundations of a sustainable football club for the years to come.

As advised in our AGM, the decision to move in this direction is to not only ensure development of youth (Boys and Girls), but to also provide a pathway for success into senior football. The decision to move forward is coupled with ensuring the financial sustainability of SOFC and minimise financial risks. "

In other words, our owner is solely focused on CCM and we wont have money to pay legit players so we will use the catchphrase... 'focus on youth development pathways' ?

Sydney Olympic have just raised the white flag and has given up. When teams talk about focusing on youth, that is effectively code for "we don't have the money anymore to sign decent players". We can effectively rule them out for a future home and away NST competition.
