NPL 2026

Exactly this...
My hope is that yhe serious foundation clubs will strengthen and that includes for the NPL, some more some less, all will have the next Championshipnin mind.
Re the foundation clubs Sth, Avondale, Wests, Marconi are more complete, and need few signings.
Preston is already showing its view moving forwRd with strong signings.
I highly doubt SU58 will be this complacent again, wollongong will see this year as a learning experience and only get better the next time round, olympic is interesting and dependent on the coaching/management.

As far as the rest go, they need to step up,
South hibart proved its good off the field and has interest but needs to get the on the park stuff sorted and apply to be permanent, bergers has retained and strengthened but they need to commit fully and not just rely on the easy qualification aveneue or miss out on h&a, i expect Ad City to ginally apply succesfully, qld i expect a solid permanent bid also.

Interest should be there for a EOI from the ckubs that fixed the issues the last time round to be successful this time and then easily h&a.
I think a major point of interest should be how much favor these foundation clubs can gather from local government in terms of funding, also think control of facilities will be important.

I desperately hope SU58 can get it together considering they are obviously having issues with policing at games and having half of their squad absent from their inaugural Aus Championship campaign.
All good points.

There will be some clubs who would prefer the status quo and and others that would want to step up and invest in a proper home and away league structure. Even Football Australia would be surprised by the response from fans and the wider football community. I think 1 or 2 clubs who were sitting on the fence may be now in favour of re-evaluating how they could push to join a future a separate home and away league competition.

I

I would say yes from when it was announced that the highest Ranked NSW team was going to the championship the club was eager to compete cause we would’ve brought decent crowds and on the pitch I think we would’ve topped Group C with Avondale

Will be interesting this season with Sutherland investing massively but bar Rockdale and Sutherland don’t see anyone competing for the Spot

As for the other clubs I’m not sure but why wouldn’t it be attractive if you get it right there’s $$ to be made

Could Rockdale step up and join a home and away league competition? Would be good to see more clubs stepping up.

Dang - there goes my coworker - wonder where he is off to? He was looking forward to working under Perkovic. I'm guessing he might follow Zoric.. has Zoric got a new home yet?

Speaking of Mounties, looks like they will be spending big Afterall, as they are calling the new project Back to Back.

They have signed Symonds, Vella, Jake Mcging, Nick Sullivan and Patrick Antelmi.
Brandon Vella ?

Would love to see it let’s see what the future holds

The club is having an AGM meeting next month and voting for the next president of the club is shaping to be a close one with our former President running against the current one and saying he will bring $$ and footballing personal to make Rockdale a second version of Preston

Brutal. Whoever this new sugar daddy is better be prepared to be laying 6 figures for a few seasons.

For sure Marconi, I think Mounties had previously had money to spend
Alot of people don't know that Mounties essentially saved Marconi from going under & I don't mean the football club I mean the whole thing. Marconi had about 25 million dollars in debt for one reason or another and Mounties actually gave them a bridging loan for the whole amount. Took years for Marconi to pay it back but they did. Point being that Mounties as an organisation have always had a serious warchest to play with which they spend on Rugby League ( their gym for the players is better than most NRL clubs ) mainly. And yes for a while they were paying players stupid amounts but they never had the proper coaching staff and the whole thing never went anywhere. Now when I hear of Mounties new found interest in football I'm wondering if they're trying to get an Australian Championship wildcard taking into consideration that you don't have to 'qualify' as such to be in the Championship as to be a top NPL team like Marconi,APIA & Rockdale serious investment, administration & facilities are required.
