General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

It could be argued that last season Zdrillic inherited a list that needed purging which occurred over the break hence the results were always going to be lacklustre. But after two games, it was obvious that the players were not playing for their careers, pride, teammates, coach or club. What was the point of bringing in Wootton, Kaltak, and Rishdon at the same time? One player I can understand to help develop younger team mates, two at a stretch but three?
What is damming for PG, and this is no reflection on Zdillic, is that they have very little youth talent left with Pearman and Bennie gone. BR had an equally dismal season but at least they had young players fans could pin their hopes on. And BR have also lost some of their young players to overseas clubs but there is still more.
I wonder whether the support staff will persist with an old defensive line of three. Right now, I would probably revert to a 4-3-3 with with Rishdon on the left, Wootton as right CB, a new RWB and a new left CB. Kaltak can be on the bench.

Would be interesting to know how much of a say Zdrilic had in these signings and player retention, or did he have 100% control?

Regardless, on field there was no visible game plan/structure and that’s on the coach.

Nothing wrong with being a good full time assistant.

And the circus continues here in Perth lol,

I had thought he would of at least lasted untill midway through but I was very wrong.

Like everyone is saying on here I hope they were in talks with a couple of people before they did this or this just screams like a desperation move to ease the pressure from the supporters here .

I just wonder if we held on to that lead against Wellington at home and won this is would of been very different.

From a start of competion coach perspective he beat Ange 😛
I can’t believe for a 1 club town and this clubs rich history the roller coaster it’s gone through over the AL years.

Rich history, LFC ? The club is only thirty years old. Impressive in Australian standards for thirty years though.

Yes, SFC is the same, with even less, but more successful.

Whilst on the subject, not many of old national league clubs are that much older than us two.

Seems like history only goes back to the late fifties with the pro and semi pro clubs in this country.

Please correct me if i am way off the mark here.

Yes it is nothing compared to abroad Sutho obviously regards history and that’s Aussies history pretty recent in everything to global standards but that’s our bar right ?
PG imo yes is ahead of SFC history wise but ownership tenures is chalk and cheese.
Hence PG’s downfalls but this isn’t a us vs them outlook.
PG’s history of back in the day is not to be sneezed off considering some great players of the past were involved for here.
I wouldn’t dare correct or disagree with you in case of a banning due to posts going OTT hahaha j/k

I mean some clubs have only existed since 2012.... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

It's actually ridiculous.

I'm not the biggest fan of Melbourne City for multiple reasons, but this could end up being the fork in the road season which pushes them to the southeast.

They play 4 home games between December 23 and January 6. Two of them mid-week. They wont get 20k in total for those four games.
I figure the midweek ones will be OK. School holidays and things like that.

Haha, this reminds of Liverpool fans singing to Man City fans 'you have no history', 'you're not a big club'.
Liverpool only 2 premierships in the last 35 years as opposed to Man City's 8 premierships in the last 35 years.

Aloisi to Perth surely?

What a basketcase they are.
Melbourne Heart, Brisbane Roar, Western United.
I really hope Aloisi doesn't go to another basketcase club, he's already been at three. He could hold out for something better.

He/player management certainly did a good job in what must have been a difficult ownership/senior management/admin environment at WU
