Look Roar are no Adelaide when it comes to being thugz there better then that but they did a lot of fouling however it is what it is. Wasn't the best match to watch for neutrals but Im happy we got the win as i doubted we could hold the high press again and not be punished which is what happened for Roars only goal.

Nix are having lots of possession with us pressing from around halfway. Nix seeming basically toothless coming forward despite being able to pass around among themselves well.

Herrington is such quality. You watch his positioning, 1v1s, and timing on tackles and dropping back and he is a step above most. We feel solid at the back when he is involved.

We are progressing the ball forward pretty comfortably. A lot of long balls to Long and Vidic seeing Vidic dominating and Long still a step off being effective. His options when he gets the ball wide have not been fruitful.

Klein with an almost criminal header onto the crossbar in front of an open goal felt disappointing. Vidic with a beautiful piece of movement to step inside the Nix CB, open the goal and chip the keeper making up for it.

It is on Nix now to lift their attacking play. I can't see us needing to change much about our play - we are winning a lot of 1 v 1 challenges (and there have been a lot of them) and finding good, smart options for faking a pass and holding the ball to open up the line, making space and using the players who offer themselves up, and just composed team play.

Nix had a chance to mount pressure with a couple of free kicks and we were lucky and structured enough to manage the danger.

Armiento is looking fitter than I have seen him in previous seasons.

If Chiefy's voice was any louder it could wear a shirt and count as a player.

Herrington was behind Kikianis and Esposito in selections for U 20 WC, but did well when selected.

At this stage Bad needs a sustained run at senior level soccer. Youngsters are inherently inconsistent. He was brilliant against Vic though.

Genreau has improved since he was last in the Roo squads.

Better technique on the ball.

Better ball winner.

Less stupid fouls, although did one at 75 mins when moved back into DM instead of AM. It seems playing a more attacking role suits him, as he spends a greater time playing with the ball than winning it, or holding team shape without it.

I’m trying to compare Genreau 2025 version to Caceres 2025 version - in terms of Popa selection criteria. He has learned and improved a bit in his French sojourn - a very forward thinking football country ATM.

I read the atmosphere was great ! - go figure Sutho in a perfectly sized stad for football viewing.
The latter is hear say as mentioned, if only the rest of your support turned up if you think that number the place would have been pumping even more (14/15K ? still in a 45K stad is spread out like wildfire) - the coasties would have felt like at home another perfectly sized ground re Gosford.
Obvious you'll say otherwise considering your happy with large open spaces and convenience to home - your free ticket return bus ride would have been no worries and you still enjoyed your beverages.

Herrington shouldn't have been behind them - consistently one of the best CBs in the comp last year, let alone u20. Esposito makes too many stupid mistakes.

Valadon came into the game from 45 min to 78 until Bad hammered the wondergoal. I think Vic played some decent possession in that period, with Jordi V on the ball a lot.

I think Vic are missing Miranda, Teague and Arzani, and the injured Nishan V.

I also rate Valadon very highly, but he has to do too much with Stella on the pitch - he'll bounce back, he was really good last week

As i have said, you are used to dumps, so you become familiar with them, and you pay accordingly. Me, i have moved with the times and enjoy them. Levels, as they say. Please don't mention atmosphere, this country does not know what atmosphere is like.

yer true re atmosphere - I hear you chalk and cheese.
The ethnics did/do bring atmosphere (put aside the trouble though even abroad) but passionate support is/was frowned upon here forever and a day, always has......
Far from used to dumps I have experienced it all just as you and many in the same boat - I just go with the flow football is football played in a dump or not, it doesn't ruin my time viewing the game.
I get enjoyment at my local dumps to NPL dumps but I don't feel its great in large stads half or less full lacking much adrenaline vibe and echo's - we all see it differently don't we.

The question is, is there a better alternative? Allianz is unavailable due to incompetence. Is there are more suitable option than Leichhardt?

not really in closest vicinity......
Kogarah is the next and its not the dump like Sutho express's but its a morgue of a ground to me - barron, empty kind of place very open.
IMO it lacks any kind of buzz feeling.
I hardly see that it gets much a crowd for football tbh even though many of SFC support is supposedly from Shire close by - been to quite a few games never really packed out.
Other options Sutho to you ?

Out of the two, Kogarah for me and many others. Better transport links, big leagues club across the road as well. When full, it is quite decent. (14000 +)

The real question is that why does Sydney have to suffer from someone else destroying the pitch? Aren't they the biggest tenant at Allianz?

Victory suffer every season due to some concert or Monster Trucks bullshit at AAMI Park during our season.

At what point does football stand up and say that's not good enough?

We are the same at Suncorp but with the Broncos, Katy Perry and any singing cowboy being the main tenant instead of us. And to be honest that is fair enough - we can't fill two sides of Suncorp yet and the others all can.

Sucks for us but business wins out.

It is at the point where we accept smaller and less impressive venues that we might get some weight behind us. Not going to happen with the options we have up here now.

If the Perry Park Olympic upgrade happens to a Tier 2 stadium we are talking a whole new ball game though. A 10k Perry Park would rock. Who knows what we will end up with there though - the Perry Park Upgrade thread shows a lot of unknowns still.

Someone else didn't destroy the pitch though. There is a massive drainage issue. Like most things in this country, it would be almost certainly caused by either incompetence or corner-cutting to meet budgets, or both.
Why do SFC have to suffer? Same reason MV, BR, PG or any number of other clubs have to suffer when there are stadium issues. They don't own their stadiums.

We are one of three tenants at the ground. If the other two had to be relocated, it is quite easy, as they would just move them next door to the SCG. SCG, is not quite suitable for football as it is for the two codes of rugby, due to the cricket pitch.

The squad overall is better than the previous season. But two games in, the game plan/structure is just garbage and non existant. This is solely on the coach. By seasons ends we will be averaging max 5k unless there is a drastic turnatound on field. If we actually had a top 4 caliber team, we would probably average 10k. Glory have a very loyal supporter base, with how poorly the club has been doing on and off the field the past 15 years, I am surprised we still get 5k to be honest. The early sustained success in the NSL days has ensured glory will always have a place in the Perth sporting landscape as there are rusted on supporters who love the club.

I think the Swans might have something to say about that.You are right that the SCG is unsuitable for football.
Leichardt is antiquated but I enjoyed going there on Saturday even though the Mariners lost.The ground was not full but the crowd was enthusiastic and because of the presence of Quispe there were a large number of people in Peruvian NT shirts and Latin American always add to the atmosphere at any match.
